Please make room reservations by June 26, 2009 Seminar Director Joseph B. Bikowski, MD Clinical Assistant Professor Ohio State University Director Bikowski Skin Care Center Sewickley, PA Dr. Bikowski is the originator of the concept for this course. He completed his Dermatology residency at Ohio State University Hospital in 1978 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology in the same year. This is the 29th year that Dr Bikowski has directed the Galderma Pre-board Slide Seminar. His enthusiastic dedication to updating the material each year to meet the changing needs of board-eligible dermatologists has made this the pre-eminent review seminar for board certification preparation. Course Objective The fundamental aim of the Galderma Pre-Board Slide Seminar is to present an educationally valuable review of Dermatology. This is a preparatory seminar which approximates as closely as possible the format of the Kodachrome segment of the Certifying Examination of the American Board of Dermatology. The registrant will be exposed to over 750 projected images in a simulated exam environment with immediate review by the faculty members. In this way, the participants will be able to identify areas which might require further study. The seminar may also help alleviate pre-test anxiety, thus allowing the registrant to perform at an optimum level of competence during the actual examination. Instruction Method The review uses projected images depicting various dermatologic phenomena. Each of eight seminar segments will last 2-1/4 hours and will have 2 subsections. During the first 45 minutes of each session, the registrant will take a simulated Board Exam consisting of approximately 60 images with one question per image. Each image will be projected on the screen for 45 seconds. The registrant must identify the subject of the image and answer a multiple choice question (printed test questionnaires are provided). The faculty member will then review each image and accompanying question, answer questions and discuss differential diagnoses in the next 90 minutes. A study guide/syllabus with appropriate references for each question is provided for further review. Emphasis will be on recognizing dermatologic manifestations in an exam-like setting.
