Zero Hunger by 2030 Welthungerhilfe presents itself

We conquer hunger We want all people to be able to feed themselves with enough and healthy food at all times. Sustainable cultivation methods, improved seed, storage opportunities and cooking classes help us to accomplish our goals. We overcome poverty Many people are too poor to secure enough food for themselves. We support them by fostering local economic developments. The world produces enough food for everyone. We protect the environment Without natural resources such as earth, water or air, no food crops could grow. We work to preserve the environment and promote sustainable production methods.

We ensure survival In emergency situations, we fight the immediate hunger, but also set the foundation for long-term improvements of people s living conditions. Whenever possible, we cooperate with local partner organisations. We supply water and hygiene Poor hygiene and an inadequate water supply cause life-threatening diseases, which in turn aggravate hunger and poverty. We improve these conditions by supplying clean drinking water and better hygiene standards. We build capacities We fight the circumstances that lead to hunger and poverty. Through education and learning, people can improve their situation in life. We work on influencing and changing the political framework conditions.

Welthungerhilfe n fights against worldwide hunger and for sustainable food security: about 800 million people do not have enough to eat. n is a private, charitable aid organization, non-partisan and non-denominational. It works under a voluntary steering committee and a professional executive board. Its patron is the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. n has funded more than 6,800 projects in 70 countries since its founding in 1962. n finances its work through private donations and public funds, from for example the German government or the European Union. n has received the charitable donations seal of approval of the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) since its introduction, recognizing its efficient and responsible handling of the funds entrusted to it. n belongs to national and international networks and alliances that combine forces toward achieving shared goals. One of these joint efforts is Alliance2015, a network of European organizations. Our Work Getting to the root of hunger We work hand in hand with families that run small farms. In particular, women and disadvantaged minorities need our support. Together, we fight against the many causes of hunger, with such tools as site-appropriate agriculture, educational and job opportunities and improved provision of water and sanitation services. Delivering emergency aid, fast When catastrophe strikes, Welthungerhilfe helps ensure survival during the acute crisis, providing such necessities as food, tents or potable water. The affected people need seeds, farming tools and know-how to rebuild their lives. Whenever possible, we work together with local partner organizations. Stand up for fair living conditions Hunger and poverty can only be defeated if the international community sets a course for a more just future. We seek dialog with political decision-makers, we start campaigns and inform the public as advocates for those who still don t get the attention they deserve. Photo: during crises situations, rapid food aid saves lives for example here in Mali.

Your involvement Become a volunteer Hundreds of people in Germany volunteer for Welthungerhilfe. Whether in action groups, circles of friends or in schools, tireless volunteers keep on coming up with new ways to win others to our cause. We re grateful to all of them! Every contribution counts! More and more people especially from the younger generations are getting involved in our exciting activities. They participate in the RunForLife campaign or organise a Lesson against hunger at their schools. Hands-on work or financial support every contribution counts! Donations large and small enable us to open doors for people in need, to help replace despair with hope. Helping Effectively Businesses, each with their own cooperation models, are important partners for us. And if private individuals or foundations wish to become involved on a larger scale as well, we can help find the appropriate model for them. Together, we can move mountains! Photo: at the 2016 ZeroHungerRun, the participation of 1,300 runners turned into almost 23,000 Euro in donations. Photo right: new or repaired hand pumps supply clean drinking water in India.

What happens to your donations? We leverage them... With your donations, we are in the position to apply for further funds from public grant providers, such as the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union (EU) or the United Nations, and to convince them of our good project ideas. As a rule, each donation quadruples itself 100 Euro in donations becomes 400 Euro of project funding.... und maximise their impact. 90,3 % Project funding 2,8 % Quality assurance 1,8 % Administration 1,5 % Campaigns, education 3,6 % Fundraising Numbers for 2016.
