Symposium on Diagnosis and Treatment of Parotid Carcinoma March 27 28, 2003 The Netherlands Cancer Institute Amsterdam, the Netherlands Organized by Head & Neck Oncology Group NKI/AvL-AMC Co-directors: AJM Balm MWM van den Brekel
I N T R O D U C T I O N Parotid carcinoma is relatively uncommon and unfamiliarity with this disease harbours the risk of an oncologically non-adequate approach. Adequate diagnosis and treatment in a multidisciplinary fashion are therefore essential. The participants of the symposium will be informed about the latest developments in the field of diagnosis and treatment of parotid carcinoma with special emphasis on surgical techniques, including surgery demonstrations, imaging and prognostication. After this symposium attendees should be able to recognize the unique considerations for management of parotid carcinoma and the standard approach to its treatment.
