What You Can Do Online is a one page flyer explaining the most popular online available options with direct links. How To Create An Online Account is a two page brochure explaining how to create a my Social Security account. Online access to your information is going to take the place of the paper statement that we usually receive in the mail from the Social Security Administration. JOB POSTINGS Information on available positions (including student positions) at Athens State can be found at: jobs.athens.edu TO SUPERVISORS Information on new employees must be entered into E-verify within the first three days of employment to be compliant with the Social Security Administration and Homeland Security, so it is imperative that New Hire paperwork on all NEW EMPLOYEES (INCLUDING STUDENT WORKERS) be on file in the payroll office before they begin their first day. ALABAMA HIGHER EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP - AHEP From the Alabama Higher Education Partnership - Invitation to Join: Athens State University employees are invited to join the Alabama Higher Education Partnership, which represents all of Alabama's 14 public universities in legislative and grassroots advocacy. Membership is voluntary, but offers employees the opportunity to receive legislative updates and information regarding statewide policy that affects Alabama's public universities, including Athens State. Levels of membership vary from only $12 for basic membership, up to $120 for Level III Membership that also includes a $2,000,000 Educators Professional Liability Insurance policy. MISSION TRIP Cathy Brett was part of a mission team made up of mostly members of First United Methodist Church of Athens, who along with some local residents from Reynosa, Mexico, contructed homes for Reynosa residents.
OCTOBER S DISABILITY AWARENESS MONTH Saralyn Mitchell and Jean Martin attended the Alabama Governor s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities & AL Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) recognition luncheon and received a Certificate for supporting Vocational Rehab s training efforts. Jean presented and Saralyn represented as 503/ADA Coordinator at the Army Space and Missile Defense Command / Armed Forces Strategic Command for Disability Awareness Month on October 26, 2015. Athens State University Alum & Wounded Warrior James West told his Athens State success story and encouraged employers to hire disabled Veterans. Saralyn and Jean attended a conference on Section 503 and ADA presented by EEOC, ADRS and the AL Business Leadership Network on October 27, 2015. Pictured: Saralyn Mitchell, ADRS Business Relations Manager Omar Smith, Jean Martin PEEHIP TEAM UP FOR HEALTH WELLNESS PROGRAM STARTS A NEW YEAR (from the PEEHIP Advisor) The new year of the PEEHIP Team Up for Health Wellness Program is officially underway, and that means it is time once again to work toward improving your health by completing your required activities! The deadline to complete your required activities is August 31, 2016, but why not go ahead and get started by taking advantage of all the health and wellness benefits that PEEHIP offers to you as part of the Wellness Program. The required activities for the new year are shown below (in the attached link). These activities are required for members and spouses enrolled in the PEEHIP Hospital Medical group 14000 plan, if not Medicare-eligible and covered on a retiree contract. PINK ELEPHANT LUNCHEON The Pink Elephant Luncheon was held Wednesday, October 14 th at the Limestone Event Center. The luncheon was a fundraising effort in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. In attendance from Athens State were Mike Essary, Nancy Croomes, and Kim Roberts. HOLIDAY LUNCHEON
