North East Partnership Board Meeting 29 th January Sunderland Welcome and Introductions The meeting was chaired by Jodie Williams and Lesley Jeavons. We went around the room and everyone said who they were and where they were from. Lesley welcomed everyone to the meeting. She went over the minutes of the last meeting and we talked about: The Together North East Festival Working together in the future and what that should look like
Update on Actions Lesley asked for Judith Thompson to update the group on the work of the Transforming Care Board subgroup she is involved with. Judith explained the work of the workplace subgroup. She explained they are working on supporting training for all staff around positive behaviour support, which is a good way of supporting people who can have behaviour that challenges She also told the group that they are developing 3 leadership programmes. These are to help commissioners develop the way they buy services and help people and families be leaders in our area. Judith also explained about the work of the Mortality Review. This is happening because too many people with learning disabilities die when they should have been able to get treatment for their conditions. So the Mortality Review is looking at why this happens and to try to improve how people are treated so this doesn t happen.
100 voices how many we got back, what people told us. 100 voices - self advocates Kellie took us through the presentation showing some of the information we had got back. There is the presentation and the summary which you can see on the links below Here is the presentation bit.ly/1o2f40w And here is the summary bit.ly/20sym1k Lots of people were shocked at some of the information that came back, for example people said they get all the information they need and that people aren t lonely. The priorities that we talked about were people having friends and people having jobs. 100 voices - family news Kellie took us through the presentation showing some of the information we got back. You can see the presentation here bit.ly/1wdzmju And here is the summary bit.ly/1rwglpo Some people were surprised budget cuts were not mentioned more.
We talked as a group about the lack of response. We looked in detail at the areas who responded and the ones who didn t. Here are the graphs from the presentations showing which areas responded. This one is for the family carer s surveys:
And this one is for the Self Advocate s surveys
Some of the reasons people thought this might of happened are: People don't see the point in them No resources to go out and ask people directly Lack of organisations to support the work Survey Monkey might not be the best form Just before Christmas might not have been the best time Some areas had other surveys going on at the same time No money to support people to go through questions We agree it was an issue that we struggle to reach people we thought we could.
The North East Partnership review - Our future, Our decision Our Future People spent time looking at the Working Together paper Kellie had put together. You can read this on the link below: http://bit.ly/1pnlm4w We discussed what we all wanted to get out of the partnership and if we think it s worth continuing Everyone agreed we want a place to bring everyone together to share, learn and influence.
What the new partnership will do? Hold the self assessment framework The partnership could set the plans for the North-East Working on the RED of the self assessment Share information across the area Hold regional groups to account Direct/set/influence the plan going on by group/orgs Sharing info re: important areas - jobs/friends Share What work is going on Report in on what has happened so far Solution focused We will have a planning meeting for the new partnership to design the future meetings. Once we have had this we will send out a date and information.
