Imagine A Brighter Future. SI Joint Dysfunction relief is possible with the SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System.

SI Joint Dysfunction The problem is real. So is the solution. 22.5% of low back pain is caused by the sacroiliac (SI) joint. 1 The power to make a difference. At Zyga, your quality of life is important to us. That s why we design minimally invasive surgical solutions to treat common yet underserved painful spine conditions. Our goal? To provide you with the relief you need to return to the activities you enjoy. For years, sacroiliac (SI) joint pain was considered difficult if not impossible to diagnose. What s more, the only permanent solution was invasive open SI joint fusion surgery that resulted in a painful and challenging rehabilitation process and limited success. That s why we created the SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System (SImmetry). > > SImmetry Our minimally invasive surgical solution is designed for individuals with SI Joint Dysfunction or Sacroiliitis who haven t gotten relief from conservative care, such as physical therapy, chiropractic treatment or SI joint injections. > > Results Our system helps stabilize your SI joints offering you the potential to return to an active lifestyle and regain your ability to perform the daily tasks that keep life moving forward.

Understanding SI Joint Dysfunction Good to know. Your SI joints connect your spine to your pelvis. They absorb shock and provide stability for your body. Normally, your SI joints have very little movement. Yet, inflammation, wear and tear or a single incident can damage them, changing the normal movement and creating chronic and often debilitating low back pain. Common causes of SI Joint Dysfunction are: > > Injuries A fall, car accident or simple misstep can damage your SI joint. Awkward lifting or twisting can too. > > Previous lumbar surgery Fusion of the lumbar spine alters its natural movement and ability to absorb shock. Sometimes this transfers forces to the SI joints, resulting in excessive stress or degeneration. > > Anatomic Variations Uneven leg length, abnormal gait, and scoliosis can put additional stress on the SI joints to maintain stability, which can cause degeneration and pain. > > Pregnancy The ligaments that stabilize the SI joints stretch to allow for delivery. If they remain loose post-pregnancy, it may cause painful movement of the SI joints. Your SI joints The SI joints have many nerve endings, so they can be very painful when degeneration or inflammation affect their ability to move properly.

IS it SI? Your doctor can perform simple tests to help determine the source of your low back problems. Some common symptoms of SI Joint Dysfunction include: Is it SI Joint Dysfunction? Exhausted conservative therapy? Have you tried the following conservative care options for at least six months without relief? Is SImmetry the next step? > > Pain in your buttock This pain is usually a dull ache on one side of your lower back and may extend into the thigh. > > Pain and discomfort performing daily activities These activities may include walking up and down stairs, climbing hills, vacuuming and other activities that require your pelvis to twist. > > Difficulty sitting or lying down This is often experienced as an ache on one side that causes you to sit on one buttock to relieve the pain in the other side. Anti-inflammatory medications Chiropractic treatments Pain medications Physical therapy SI joint injections Supports or braces If so, your doctor may recommend SI joint fusion surgery as the logical next step. > > Visit zyga.com to learn more.

SI Joint Fusion Surgery What to expect. SImmetry may restore your ability to comfortably return to the activities you enjoy. Commonly asked questions about the procedure include: >> How big is the incision? The procedure requires two small incisions, usually only two centimeters long. They re made on the side of your buttock and no muscles or ligaments are cut, enabling you to return to normal activity levels more quickly and with less pain than more invasive procedures.2 >> Will I be awake? No. Your surgeon will use general anesthesia, so you will be unconscious during the procedure, which typically takes one hour to perform.3 >> When can I go home? Your surgeon will decide the length of your hospital stay, but most patients return home after one or two days.2 >> What will recovery be like? Although each recovery is different, some patients experience immediate relief. Your surgeon will design a recovery plan to fit your situation. It will often limit your ability to bear weight for a few weeks and will likely involve walking with crutches to allow your body time to heal. Finally, this new technology gives chronic SI Joint Dysfunction patients a great surgical option that allows a true sacroiliac joint fusion. Patient response and outcomes so far have been very encouraging. Gary Fleischer, MD Spine and Brain Center of New England
