Your lifeline 365 days a year A year in review

As Chief Executive of your North West Air Ambulance Charity, I am continually humbled by the endless lengths you, our supporters, go to help raise the vital funds our charity needs to keep us in the air. The money you raise enables us to make a difference to the lives of countless patients and their families across the North West. Since our beginnings in 1999, our charity, and the service we are able to deliver, has grown significantly. Change that has seen us deliver enhanced care to our patients, giving the gift of time to more people than ever before. Change that has only been made possible thanks to your fantastic support. Heather Arrowsmith, CEO John Taylor, HEMS Pilot Within five minutes of the alarm, we are in the air. Our distinctive helicopters are granted permission over other aircraft essentially giving us the blue lights of the sky to ensure we can reach our patients as quickly as possible.

Polly Haywood, HEMS Doctor Following a serious injury, time is of the essence. When necessary we can provide highly specialist care to stabilise a patient by giving anaesthetic at the roadside, correct oxygen levels, or if necessary, perform surgery. Once this critical care has been provided at the scene, our patients are rapidly transferred to the right treatment centre to continue the care that best meets their needs. This early intervention ensures your North West Air Ambulance Charity gives the gift of time by saving lives and enhancing our patients recovery.

Nikki Hewitt & Rob Evans, HEMS Paramedics All three of our aircraft are equipped with highly trained crew to ensure our patients receive the very best care. One of our aircraft has a doctor on board and together we can provide the most advanced treatment and life-saving interventions regardless of location. Because of your help we are able to take the Emergency Department to the end of your street.

Without day-to-day government funding we rely almost entirely on your kind donations and fundraising. Without the kind support and generosity of our community we simply wouldn t be here. Deon Zwanepoel I ll always be incredibly grateful to the crew who got to me so quickly that day and started the rapid treatment I needed with care and compassion; I m not sure how things would have turned out without them. After my accident, my family and I were shocked to learn that the North West Air Ambulance Charity relies on donations. I urge everyone I know to support them they do a marvellous job, and it really is a lifesaving service. So whether you have tackled a tough challenge, organised an event, baked a cake or encouraged your company to show their support; YOU have made a difference. Whether you are one of over 90,000 people who play for 1 a week in our very own Lift off Lotto, have made a personal donation or considered us in your will; YOU have made a difference. Or whether you are one of the thousands of visitors we welcome to our network of stores with donated goods and who, in turn, love to seek out a bargain; YOU have made a difference. We wouldn t be here without you
