The XR form should cover the whole school day but may require an after-school dose. The XR can be opened and sprinkled on food. s are Longer duration. No abuse potential. Brand only. Also effective antidepressant. May need 1-3 weeks to build up. Approved to help stop smoking (lessens nicotine withdrawal). Less Precautions same as. The most abusable of the group. Avoid if seizure or eating disorder history. Should be given 2 or 3 times/day, SR is 1-2 times a day. May not help attention as much as stimulants.

May lower blood pressure, dizziness. Kapvay is similar to Intuniv. Stimulant side effect but milder plus chance of increasing tics than stimulants. Often used with stimulants for aggression Few or no side effects. Helps tics, impulsive aggression and nightmares. Intuniv is once a day in AM, longest duration, least sedating. Helps tics, nightmares, severe hyperactivity and impulsive aggression. Most common sleep med for ADHD youth. Clonidine Adolescence and adults often like gradual onset. Best for people May not help attention or hyperactivity as much as stimulants. Do not stop suddenly to avoid rare rebound high blood pressure. Not effective for attention. Taper off slowly to avoid rebound high blood pressure. Takes up to 4 weeks to be effective. Best for attention

Provigil (modafinil) Nuvigil (armodafinil) 40 60 80 100 s 100, 200 50, 150, 250 ½ target dose for 5 nights, increase to target dose for 5 nights then change to AM Once daily in a.m. 150 lbs. over 150 target dose 80 to 100 AM 100 to 400 (100 to 200 usual) 50 to 250 onset: 1 hour 12 hrs sedation, nausea possible. Rare severe nausea and need to split dose to AM and 3 PM Can have stimulant like side effects though milder. with co-occurring Anxiety and Tics. Not a controlled substance. Similar to stimulants but better tolerated. Benefits less than stimulants for ADHD. Good for narolepsy and alertness in sleep disorders. Not a controlled substance. and not hyperactivity. 2% to 8% of youth are slow metabolizers and need lower dose or if taken with Prozac or Paxil. Must be taken 7 days a week. Only available as brand. Provigil generic Rare hypersensitivity rash Nuvigil is longer lasting isomer.
