Jacque Easy Peasy 4/12/2018 jnarnaud@gmail.com Johnny s School Year Johnny was an average teenage boy who played football and went to high school just like everyone else. There was nothing special about him he was tall and muscular with blonde hair and deep green eyes that he did not like. He likes to hang out with his friend, Damon, on Saturday nights and practice for the football team on Sunday morning. Sometimes he can sound arrogant and mean but he has good intentions at heart. Johnny enjoys football because he like being outside and he is able to relieve some of the stress of his life when he runs into other players. He only started to play football because of a pretty cheerleader named Alison. Johnny thinks that if he impresses her she ll like him and want to go out with him. Although he hardly knows her, he feels like he has spent lifetime with her. Johnny is really good at most sports and is a great with his hands. Sometimes he remembers when his dad would let him help work on the car or build something with him. Johnny is not really a person to open up and pour out his feeling to someone and he also does not trust very many people because of what they might think of him. One day when he was practicing football the coach pulled him aside. He had a

disappointed and almost sad look on his face as if he didn't want to say what he was about to say. Johnny knew what he was about to he knew his grades were failing. Johnny told him to go to the principal s office after practice. Once practice was over he left for the the main school building were the offices were located. He had a bad feeling about it and he was almost sick to the stomach. You re suspended from the team said the principal. If you don't get your grades up you will have to leave the team. - The day after, saturday, Johnny went to Damon s house to tell him about his problem. All you have to do is get a tutor to help you with your grades, he said and I think I know the perfect person. The next day he couldn t believe it when he was set up to study with Alison after school. He didn t think he d ever get to talk to her, let alone spend an hour a day three times a week with her. In the first tutor session he didn t talk much unless she asked him a question and even then it was the bare minimum to answer her question. That day he and Alison worked out a schedule; Mondays would be math, Tuesdays would be science, and Thursdays would be literature and history.

When he got home that afternoon he saw that Damon was waiting with for him in his driveway. So, he said how was it? Johnny almost punched him for putting him in that kind of a situation. It was fine Johnny said plainly. Fine, just fine? he asked imploringly. Yes, fine said Johnny In the next few tutor sessions Johnny became more relaxed around Alison and they became friends. As his relationship with Alison got better so did his grades but he still wasn t allowed to play until he had at least a C in three classes and a B in two classes and one A and he was almost there. He had to get only an A in one class and he d be able to play again and his opportunity came with a big project about in science. He talked to alison and asked her what he should do it on and she said If I were you I d do it about something that you could get some help with. Johnny thought for a second and said What you mean like cheating? Johnny may have been many things but he was honest and didn t cheat. Alison moved a little closer to him and whispered No, I thought we could work on it together. Maybe we could meet up and this weekend. Johnny was getting excited and thought about how he could ask her to go to a school Christmas dance. Sure, how about we meet at the diner on Second Street and Laurel Avenue? Johnny said. That sounds great Alison replied. What should I do my project on anyway? Johnny asked. Alison yelled back Insects! because she was already heading out the door.

When Johnny was at the walked up to the diner he had his backpack full of research and books about insects and Alison was supposed to bring the poster board and the glue and other things like that. He walked in and noticed he was a bit early so he orders a milkshake and sits down. Then five minutes later Alison walks through the door of the diner and sits next to him. What have you found out about insects. she asked. Then Johnny starts to pull out his research and begins explaining what he thought they could put together. Within an hour of cutting and gluing they had created a magnificent presentation that they were sure would get Johnny and A in science. Then before they added the finishing touches to the project Johnny said quietly Alison? Yes she replied. Would you like to...er want to maybe go to the christmas dance with me Johnny said nervously. Then Alison looked at him and leaned in like she did earlier that week but instead of whispering she kissed him. Does that answer your question? she said after what seemed ages but was actually just a second. The next week Johnny presented his project to the class and received a score of ninety-eight out of one hundred and as soon as the class was over he ran to Alison and told her all about it, she was so happy for him that she called for a celebratory ice cream after school. He was going to be back on the team and doing what he loved most. His team ended up winning state and they brought home a magnificent trophy.
