Welcome Welcome to the exciting world of essential oils and the Equine Raindrop Technique. In writing and compiling the content for the Equine Raindrop Technique Workshop and On Line Training Module, my goal was to write, list and document all the information I wished had been compiled in one easy reference point when I first started playing with essential oils, in particular adapting the Raindrop Technique to use with horses. I really wanted someone to show me what they did so I could learn more. In the end I had to research, read, learn and adapt what I learned based on the results experienced. I wanted to know the science behind the modality, but I equally wanted to learn about the experiences other horses and horsewomen have had with essential oils, the Equine Raindrop Technique in particular. I hope I have achieved a good balance of both in this manual and encourage you to continue to explore the growing knowledge base available regarding essential oils as one holistic element to enhance the life of your equine partner. I hope you find the information both interesting and helpful in your equine journey. Aims & Objectives The primary aim of this prospectus is to give you an overview of the content of the Equine Raindrop Technique Workshop Manual and the On Line Training Module. The On Line Training Module is an alternative option for people to learn about the Equine Raindrop Technique if they cannot, due to geographical distance, attend a workshop in person. The information provided in the Manual and the On Line Training Module is essentially the same, the benefit of the Workshop is the extensive practical session conducted in the afternoon. This is great for people who enjoy experiential learning. For people who enjoy self-study, the On Line Training Module may be a better option. The primary aim also helps you gain a good understanding of what you will receive for your investment in the Workshop or the On Line Training Module. If you are willing to invest in your education, the well-being of your horses and see benefit in giving your hard earned dollars in exchange for the time, energy, experience and knowledge offered then I think it only fair you get a thorough preview of what that investment will provide. 3
What are Essential Oils Essential oils are subtle, aromatic and volatile liquids extracted from the flowers, seeds, leaves, stems, bark and roots of herbs, bushes, shrubs and trees. Essential oils retain the life force of the plant they are derived from because they are not dried. This means essential oils, when produced properly, have a vibrational impact on the body and its energy field which helps to uplift, resolve and balance emotional and spiritual imbalances which often underpin diseases. Plants live in an environment where they are constantly decomposing. Flowers, leaves, buds, twigs that fall to the ground are broken down and become compost, enriching the earth. Essentially, plants are constantly under threat from micro-organisms that need to break down the plant in order to survive. The essential oil in the plants help to protect the living plant from those microorganisms fighting fungus, bacteria, viruses, inflammation, tumours etc. Their exact chemical make-up varies from year to year due to the variances in the natural world each harvest is different, therefore the exact composition of the essential oil is different. There are between 80 and 300+ chemical constituents in each essential oil. This is nature s way of ensuring the micro-organisms do not become resistant to the defensive power of the essential oil s chemical properties. Essential oils also carry oxygen through the plant many essential oils are natural chelators (this means they can bind to toxins such as heavy metals and other pollutants) and remove them. While essential oils have many similarities in so far as they are all powerful at resisting bacteria, viruses and inflammation they also have unique and individual properties. For instance marjoram is a wonderful muscle relaxant, cypress is a wonderful blood circulator while wintergreen is a powerful pain reliever, especially for bone related ailments. Unfortunately not all essential oils are created equal. There are over-processed, chemical laden, highly adulterated products that are little more than cheap perfume. You will learn why the quality of essential oils is so important and what makes a quality essential oil. 4
What is the Equine Raindrop Technique? ERT is a non-diagnostic modality that uses a combination of essential oils and effleurage to bring electrical balance and structural alignment to the horse s body. The ERT derives its name from the process of dripping pure, unadulterated, 100% therapeutic grade essential oils onto the spine from a height of about 15cm (6 inchesj). This duplicates the effect of raindrops falling on the body an action Native Americans believed to be cleansing and renewing to the body and the spirit. As the oil falls towards the body it interacts with the energy field (aura) of the recipient. The Workshop Manual and Online Training Module explore the origins of the modality, a summary of ancient healing modalities and four comprehensive case studies. There are detailed chapters exploring the chemistry and constituents of essential oils, along with key information regarding the energetic frequency of essential oils which is vital knowledge for understanding why the ERT is so powerful. The Workshop Manual and Online Training Module also provide a step by step user guide for performing the ERT as a foundation for you to explore the modality and expand it for the best outcome for your horse. Identification of the oils used in the ERT, the order of use along with their individual properties is also covered in significant detail. This includes how and when to substitute oils. Uses of the Equine Raindrop Technique ERT has been used to assist with: Preventing and combating sore backs and muscles before and after training Boost immune system (decrease toxic load i.e. after antibiotics) Founder/Laminitis Cancer Arthritis Cold, flu and coughs Cushings Disease Strangles Lyme Disease Navicular Disease Ringbone Windgalls Splints Tendon Injuries/Bowed Tendons Arthritis Cold/Flu/Coughs Thrush Abscesses Spinal misalignment/muscle spasms 5
