SPLASH AND LEARN IN THE POOL! SWIM STARTERS WATER DISCOVERY (PARENT/CHILD) (AGES 6 MONTHS TO 18 MONTHS) Introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment. WATER EXPLORATION (18M TO 3 YRS) Focuses on exploring body positions, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Monday: 5:30-6 pm Members: $35 Community: $70 PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS (3-5) WATER ACCLIMATION 1 (BEGINNER) Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance. WATER MOVEMENT 1 (INTERMEDIATE) Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently. WATER STAMINA 1 (ADVANCED) Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages. STROKE DEVELOPMENT Introduces breaststroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke. STROKE MECHANICS Refines stroke techniques on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle. FREE SWIM EVALUATION To ensure that your child is placed in the appropriate class, we strongly recommend a swim evaluation before registration for participants new to our swim lesson program. Appointments must be made in advance with the Aquatics Director. WATER FITNESS AQUATICS GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES Members: FREE AQUACISE Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9-10 am Low-impact class designed to increase muscle tone and flexibility with aerobics conditioning. No swimming skills required. ARTHRITIS CLASS Tuesday & Thursday: 9-10 am Improves overall function and performance of daily tasks, mobility, gait, independence, flexibility, balance, and coordination. AQUA ACES SWIM TEAM Aqua Aces team tryouts will be in September and practice will start in October. Look for information on the website early September or call the Aquatics Director for details. Parents Meeting: September 27th at 6pm. WELLNESS AT THE Y! PERSONAL TRAINING Work with a certified personal trainer to customize an exercise program for you. In scheduled training sessions, your trainer will provide motivation, feedback and accountability. Members: $25/hour Community: $40/hour TANDEM TRAINING If you prefer to work out with someone else, try tandem training! Motivate and support each other as your trainer guides you through your customized exercise program. Members: $20/hour/person Community: $35/hour/person YOUTH SPORTS SPECIFIC TRAINING This training is for young athletes (10-17) who are looking to excel in their specific sport. This type of training will help develop essential components such as balance, agility, speed and endurance. CYCLING (BEGINNER & ADVANCED) Enhance cardiovascular fitness and improve muscle tone and exercise endurance while working various muscles groups. HIIT BOXING Box away the calories with quick intense bursts of exercise followed by short recovery periods. This total body workout combines cardio and resistance training, working with boxing combinations. Equipment provided. ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS & SILVERSNEAKERS! SILVERSNEAKERS YOGA Seated and standing yoga poses increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing and final relaxation reduce stress and improve mental clarity. SILVERSNEAKERS CIRCUIT Standing circuit workout that increases cardiovascular and muscular strength. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and balls are alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. Chairs used for support. SILVERSNEAKERS CLASSIC Exercises increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, balls and chairs are used. SILVERSNEAKERS STABILITY Stability is the newest class designed to help you become stronger and improve balance. The movements taught in class focus on specific exercises to improve strength and power around the ankle, knee and hip joins, while improving your reaction time. SILVERSNEAKERS BOOM MIND Focus on improving balance and flexibility in this class inspired by yoga and Pilates. Practice mindful breathing and engage your core in a calming yet invigorating workout. The class will introduce all Olympic equipment and will allow the participants to have fun while learning the fundamentals of gymnastics. SATURDAY Members: $38 Community: $75 GYMNASTICS 201 (AGES 6 AND UP) Thursday: 7:45-8:45 pm OR Saturday: 11:30 am-12:30 pm This class is offered for the gymnasts who want to advance their skills but do not want to compete. Gymnast must be able to perform all assigned tasks to be eligible for this class. SATURDAY Members: $38 Community: $75 CHEER & TUMBLING (AGES 6 AND UP) Tuesday: 8:15-9 pm OR Saturday 1-1:45 pm This class is offered to all levels. Come and use the spring floor to work on basics like round-offs or more advanced skills like back handsprings and back tucks. Standing and running tumbling will be taught in this class. The class will work on jumps and kicks along with tumbling. SATURDAY Members: $38 Community: $75 COMPETITIVE GYMNASTICS (AGES 5 AND UP, BASED ON SKILL LEVEL) All classes have a curriculum created based on the National YMCA Progressive Gymnastics Program. Gymnast must achieve all aspects of the curriculum to move to the next level. COMPETITIVE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: SIGN UP FOR A 12 WEEK COMMITMENT COMPETE AT HOME MEETS, PURCHASE A TEAM LEOTARD, PRACTICE TWICE A WEEK FALL SESSION: September 10-December 6 (Break week Nov. 19-24) LEVEL 1 Tuesday and Thursday 5:45-6:45 pm Level 1 will teach the basic skills needed to be a successful gymnast. Routines will be learned and competed on each piece of equipment. Members: $240 Community: $480 LEVEL 2 Tuesday and Thursday 5:45-6:45 pm Level 2 will build on Level 1 skills by teaching intermediate skills and introducing new routines. The routines will be competed on each piece of equipment. Members: $240 Community: $480 LEVEL 3 Tuesday and Thursday 5:45-6:45 pm Level 3 will teach gymnasts the skills and routines that they need to compete on the team. They will be required to compete these routines and score certain scores to move onto the team. Members: $240 Community: $480 GYMNASTICS TEAM The gymnastics team competes throughout the year with the North East YMCA district. The team competes Level 3 and up. During the 2017-2018 season, the team placed at the District Championship meet, Regional Championship meet and National Championship meet. Schuyler has a background in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop and choreography. She currently dances for Seven Dance Company in Columbus. She has been teaching various styles and age groups for the last 6 years. Appropriate Ballet Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, pink slippers, and tap shoes. YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS JUNIOR CAVS BASKETBALL (AGES 5-8) DIVISIONS 5-6 YEAR OLD & 7-8 YEAR OLD Saturday: January 12th - February 16th The Cavaliers and the Ashland YMCA have partnered up to bring an amazing new basketball season for you this winter. This league is designed to teach the game of basketball through instructional officiating and live game situation.
