Fred and Jan enjoy your company for daily lunches. Come join them and look for their delicious weekly specials and just plain fun! Please support their efforts. Starting April 2 nd Alcoholic Beverages will be $.50 off on Thirsty Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Club is open on Monday from Noon until?? (Happy Hour all day Monday) Euchre starts Tuesday, April 7 th at 6:00 PM. Line Dancing every Thursday at 6:30 PM. Please remember to carry your valid Eagles Membership Card at all times. DISTRICT #6 MEETING Our Aerie #3531 will host the District #6 meeting on Sunday, April 12 th. The meeting begins at 2:00 PM. We encourage our Officers and Members to attend this meeting. APRIL BAND This Band plays Old Rock and Country Music. The Band features a 12-year old Lead Guitar Player, who is awesome! This is a must see Event! Please Come and Enjoy the Generations! 1 Our next R.E.A.C. luncheon will be held on Tuesday, April 14 th at Fieldstone Grill at Woodbridge Hills in Portage. We will meet at Noon. R.E.A.C. is looking forward to a great time in May at the Turkeyville Dinner Theater. We are planning to attend the adorable and wonderful comedy, Sex, Please, We re 60!. This is an example of the fun things, the R.E.A.C. Club is offering, in addition to monthly luncheons at different Restaurants, Casino Bus Trips, Christmas in July, Olie Bollens Sales, etc. R.E.A.C stands for Retired Eagles Activity Club. Any Aerie or Auxiliary member over 55 and retired can join R.E.A.C. You are invited to come and visit any second Tuesday of the month and become a Member of this great Club. A warm welcome to Lynn McCarty, a new R.E.A.C. Member. ADDRESS CHANGES Please submit: Auxiliary member home address changes to the Club, attention Carol Davison. BUD ISRAELS SCHOLARSHIP FUND Applications are being accepted for the 2015 Bud Israels Memorial Scholarship. The deadline for applications is June 30th. The Scholarship Committee will award a scholarship to an area high school graduate (graduates). Any interested high school senior can apply, if they meet the following criteria: 1. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or better and provide a High School Transcript. 2. Must have a letter of acceptance to a college, university or technical school. 3. Must be a child or grandchild of a F.O.E. #3531 Member, who has been a Member in good standing for a minimum of two years. Completed applications should be sent to: Portage-Schoolcraft Eagles #3531, 11611 Shaver Road, Schoolcraft, MI 49087, Attention: Scholarship Committee. Applications may be obtained at the Club or on the Website, www.eagles3531.com. ROOM RENTAL INFORMATION For information about the rental of the Activity Room for any party (i.e.; Wedding, Birthday, or Anniversary) please contact: Butch Weatherwax, who can be reached at (269) 271-1483, or leave a message for Butch at the Club. TUESDAY NIGHT BURGER COOKS We are still looking for volunteers to help out on Tuesday Hamburger Nights. If you would be interested in cooking Hamburgers on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, please contact Sue Kean at (269) 270-1444 or talk with her at the Club for details. The hours for our Tuesday Night Hamburgers are 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A reminder to our members, anyone can make a donation or memorial contribution on behalf of loved ones at anytime, to be used as part of the Bud Israels Scholarship Fund. All donations are greatly appreciated, as we plan to continue with our scholarship efforts for years to come. AERIE TAKING BIDS FOR ROOM RENOVATIONS The Aerie is taking bids for renovation of the Back Storage Room. If you would be interested in this project, please contact one of the Trustees or the Aerie President. THANK YOU CORNER We wish to thank Bob Carnes for all the handy work he performs at the Club. Especially, thanks for the repair of the Social Room Entry door. Also, a big thanks to Lynn Clark for donating the new heater in the can shed! We appreciate our Members who step forward to help keep our Aerie home in good condition! Thanks Guys! 2

NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS - 2015/2016 TERM Nominations for Aerie Officers will be held on Wednesday, April 15 th. Nominations for Auxiliary Officers will be held on Wednesday, April 22 nd. All Officers for Aerie and Auxiliary will be open except for the Auxiliary Secretarial position, which is an extended term. All Members are eligible to run for any office. Elections, if necessary, will be held on Wednesday May 6 th for Aerie and Wednesday, May 13 th for Auxiliary. If you are interested in running for an office, please mark your calendar and plan to attend the meetings on April 15 th or 22 nd. PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in running for an office but cannot attend the meetings scheduled, you must submit in writing, your letter, stating the office you would accept, if nominated. Aerie members are to submit your letter to the Aerie President or Secretary. Auxiliary members submit your letter to the Madam President. SPRING HIGHWAY PICK-UP DATE SET The date for the Spring Highway Pick-up will be Sunday, April 19 th. In the past several years we have had very little participation for this community service. The Trustees would greatly appreciate some volunteers to help with this project! If you could give us just a few hours to help clean up the highway, it would be greatly appreciated. A sign-up sheet is available behind the bar. You can also call Bruce Stockwell at (269) 491-1520 to let him know you can help! Please consider helping this year, thank you! EAGLE RIDERS CLUB The meetings for this group are the 3 rd Monday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Club. The monthly meeting will be held on Monday, April 20 th, 2015. Our Next Championships Game Day for Shuffleboard and Cornhole will be on Saturday, April 11 th. (This is our last Game Day until September) Registration at Noon. Games Begin at 1:00 PM. We had a great turn out for March and the Winners of the Games were: Corn Hole: Bill DeYoung and Terry Hutchins Shuffleboard: Bill DeYoung and Terry Hutchins Great job guys! Eagle Riders will be scheduling rides from our Club once a month on the second Saturday. The 1 st ride will be Saturday, June 27 th - Kick Stands up at approximately 1:30 PM. Destinations determined at the scheduled meetings. We are awaiting confirmation of other rides we will participate in; June 13 th is the Cancer Ride - VFW on Kilgore Road and June 20 th is Talons Out - VFW on Kilgore Road. Dues, $10.00, are due April 2015; see Bruce Stockwell, Harry Thomas or Sue Kean at the Club. A Big Thank You to all who support our Eagle Riders! Our goal is to raise monies for Challenger Little League, both in Portage and Kalamazoo. We also help support our Club by bringing together people, who participate in our games. 3

CHILI COOK-OFF The Auxiliary sponsored Chili Cook-Off was held on Saturday, February 28 th and what a success it was! We had 21 Chili Entries and everyone had a great time. The winners were as follows: 1 st Place: Keith Kurtz 2 nd Place: Fred Newbre 3 rd Place: Carol Barthelomew Congratulations to our winners and a Big Thanks to Sue Kean for a job well done. Another Thank you goes to all the members and guests, who supported this event! R.E.A.C. CASINO BUS TRIP TO FOUR WINDS IN NEW BUFFALO UPCOMING EVENTS AUXILIARY COOK BOOK UPDATE The Auxiliary is working on the publication of our New Cook Book to be written and sold to our members and friends. We appreciate all the recipes that were submitted and they will be included in this book. We are presently getting the recipes ready to go to the Publisher. We would like to have the book ready for Sale by Mother s Day of 2015. AERIE RAFFLE T.V. DRAWING The Aerie will be selling Raffle Tickets for a 32 Flat Screen TV. Ticket prices are $1.00 each or 10 tickets for $5.00. There is a 2 nd Prize for $50.00 Cash and a 3 rd Prize for $25.00 Cash. The R.E.A.C. Casino Bus Trip to Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo was scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 st and no information was available for the April Newsletter. ST. PATRICK S DAY CELEBRATION We wish to thank all who participated in our St.Patrick's Celebration days with your continued support. Your participation for our Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner and our Reuben Sandwich Sale are much appreciated. A Big Thanks to all the Auxiliary members who worked so hard on the 2-day Project. You gals are amazing! CHILDREN S EASTER PARTY Although our Children's Easter Party was much smaller this year, everyone had a great time. A huge Thank You to Linda and all her little bunny helpers. As usual, Linda, you did a terrific job. Thanks too, to our "Easter Bunny" and to Jan and Gary Zajac for the donation of the candy for the party. Your generosity is truly appreciated. See any Aerie Officer or the Bartenders for your tickets! The drawing for the T.V. will be held on Sunday, April 19 th at the Charity Jam Session. R.E.A.C. ANNUAL OLIE BOLLENS SALE Friday, April 24 th, at 11:00 AM is Olie Bollens Sale. Come down to the Club and purchase these delicious Dutch Donuts anytime from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. We will be selling Olie Bollens all day and please plan also to join us for Goldie s wonderful Roast Pork and Dressing Dinner, which will be served from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Please support your Olie Bollens bakers. These ladies work hard to bring the little Dutch donuts to you. 4

ANNUAL CHARITY JAM SESSION FRIDAY NIGHT DINNERS Our annual Charity Jam Session will be held on Sunday, April 19 th. Doors will open at 11:00 AM. All proceeds from this Event will be allocated to local Community Charity Organizations. Various bands will be donating time and music. Music will be available all afternoon. The events for the day include 50/50 s, Auctions, Raffles, Door Prizes and a Bake Sale. We encourage our members to please donate baked goods for this sale! Thank You! Food will be available from Noon to 5:00 PM. We will also have the drawing for the Television Raffle being sponsored by the Aerie. Also, by popular demand, the Jailhouse will once again be up and running! The host band will be GENERATIONS. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for a great afternoon. Help us support our local charities! This event is open to the Public. The cover charge is $1.00. MOTHER/DAUGHTER BANQUET The Mother and Daughter Banquet is scheduled for Thursday, May 7 th. A sign-up sheet will be available at the bar on April 1 st. Deadline for sign up is May 1 st. The cost is $5.00 per person. Cocktails at 6:00 PM and Dinner at 7:00 PM. The new Mother of the Year will be revealed at the Banquet.
