Note From Your Editor: I am pleased to report that Carol Hershey is continuing to make good progress in recovering from her stroke.. She is now at Mission Terrace Convalescent Hospital, 623 West Junipero, in Room 106 B. Visiting hours are 8 am to 8 pm, but if you come after 6 pm please come in the side door for Unit 3. If you would like to send Carol a card or note, please send it to her home address, 1553 Kathy Street, Carpinteria 93013, and Phil will take it to her. Phil has expressed how much it means to both Carol and him that so many people are visiting or sending cards, so do know that it is greatly appreciated. Carol will move to Cottage Rehab when she has regained enough stamina to deal with three or more hours of physical therapy per day. We will let you know when that happens with information on their visitor policies. It may be several weeks. Carol can now talk since the trach tube has been removed, although she still has some aphasia, so be patient when you visit. She is in good spirits and really looks forward to visits from her friends. Tech Trek Come see the camp in action!! Meanwhile, your Steering Committee is continuing to plan for the coming AAUW year. Membership in AAUW is open to people who hold an associate degree or higher. Branch membership offers friendship with like-minded people and an arena for making a positive contribution to your community. Benefits include a subscription to California PERSPECTIVE, our print publication. You can join our e-mail lists and attend our annual convention. Membership dues at the branch level include California and National dues. If you know of someone who you believe would appreciate the opportunity to join our branch, please give their name and contact information to our incoming Membership Chair, Dorie Kirtman at 845-6866 or Dbdb2@hotmail.com. AAUW CA Perspective Goes Electronic If you have provided AAUW with your email, you should recently have received an email from AAUW CA about a change in the delivery options for the AAUW CA publication, Perspective. As a reminder, here is the body of that email. Good news! Beginning with the June 2013 issue, California Perspective is being provided to you electronically. We hope you enjoy receiving it this way. Some of the advantages are that you are receiving the newsletter earlier and are seeing it in color and you can save it on your computer so it doesn't get lost. Click HERE for your electronic copy. The AAUW CA Communications Committee hopes to reduce the cost of printing and mailing by asking you to agree to discontinue your mailed copy of California Perspective. Our goal is to cut the number of newsletters we must print and mail by 50 percent during the 2013-14 year. If we achieve our goal, we will save $11,000! Please help us meet that goal and achieve those savings. If you are willing to discontinue your mailed copy of California Perspective and receive it electronically, just send an email message to savepostage@aauw-ca.org with the word "yes" in the subject line.
