AB 354 Chapter 434, Statutes of 2010 Two Phases to the Assembly Bill Deletes the 7 th grade hepatitis B requirement, although it is still recommended and required at Kindergarten Requires middle and high school students to be fully immunized i against pertussis (whooping cough) Applies to both private and public schools High schools saffected for the first time
Phase I: New Pertussis Immunization Requirement July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 (1 full year) All students t entering or advancing into 7 th through h 12 th grades are required to show proof of a pertussis (Tdap) booster prior to school entry: No vaccine NO SCHOOL A Td vaccine instead of Tdap NO SCHOOL
Phase II: New Pertussis Immunization Requirement July 1, 2012 and ongoing Students entering or advancing into 7 th grade only will be required to have a pertussis (Tdap) booster immunization prior to entry: No vaccine NO SCHOOL A Td vaccine instead of Tdap NO SCHOOL

Where to Find New Forms and Stickers Tdap Stickers and the new PBE form will be provided to each School District or individual private school. Information for reporting will be sent out to each School District or private school. Districts will inform individual schools on how to report. Involve your local PTA: Discuss how they can help you reach parents before the school year ends in June. Timeline July 1, 2011 June 30, 2012: Phase 1 7 th 12 th grades are required to have a pertussis booster July 1, 2012 beyond: Phase 2 7th grade pertussis (Tdap) requirement only for 2012 13 school year and annually thereafter
