Skin Ingestion Inhalation This product contains a component which may be irritating to skin. In humans, irritation of the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, and stomach can develop following ingestion of this material. The acute oral toxicity of this material is between 500 and 5000 mg/kg. Relative to other materials, this material is classified as slightly toxic by ingestion. Particulates of this material will probably irritate eyes, nose, and respiratory passages. SECTION 4. FIRST AID MEASURES Inhalation Remove victim to fresh air. If a cough or other respiratory symptoms develop, consult medical personnel. Skin contact Wash off of skin with plenty of soap and water. If redness, itching or burning sensation develops, get medical attention. Wash contaminated clothing and decontaminate footwear before reuse. Eye contact Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If redness, itching, or a burning sensation develops, have eyes examined and treated by medical personnel. Ingestion DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Give one or two glasses of water to drink and refer to medical personnel or take direction from either a physician or a poison control center. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. SECTION 5. Do not permit spilled material to contaminate waterways. Methods for cleaning up Recover material into a chemical waste container. Do not mix or contaminate with incompatible materials. Cover container and remove from work area. SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling Prevent skin and eye contact. Normal chemical handling and storage. Follow procedures specified in the National Fire Protection Association Codes and Standards for handling combustible dusts. May form combustible dust cloud in air. Avoid pneumatic conveying systems, as well as grinding and other physical operations which may create dust and a potential dust explosion hazard. Maintain good housekeeping to minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid breathing particulates. Requirements for storage areas and containers Store in a tightly sealed container away from incompatible materials. Avoid contact with aluminum and zinc. Avoid prolonged storage at elevated temperatures. Store below 50 C (120 F). SECTION 8. Eye contact with the material should be avoided through the use of chemical safety glasses, goggles or a faceshield, selected in regard to exposure potential. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Toxicity to reproduction : EDTA and its salts have caused birth defects in lab animals only at high doses which are toxic to the mother. These effects are most likely due to zinc deficiency due to chelation. Exposures having no effect on the mother should have no effect on the fetus.
