A really powerful way to evaluate, grade, monitor and decide.
Let s start with single-value logic:
Next comes dual-value logic:
Then three-value logic:
Then four-value logic:
Beyond that we can move to fuzzy logic:
Probability is usually calculated on a scale of 0 to 1.0
But we can deepen this idea with an infinite series of possibilities
We have moved from a so-called Aristotle view (dichotomy, either-or) This is a more Einsteinian model: infinity-valued logic. However much you ve got, you can always have a little bit more or a little bit less.
These values can be applied to truth, beauty, wealth, anything However good something is, there can always be better. There are no absolute black and whites in this model of thinking.
It s non-judgmental: nothing and nobody can be wholly good or bad! A person in the bad zone but moving towards good is doing better than some saintly person in the good zone who is tending towards bad!
It s filled with hope: no matter how bad things are, you can always improve them a little. This is more realistic than the total, instant BAM! approach to recovery
The Japanese post-war economic miracle was achieved by kaizen, this same little by little philosophy. We have a saying: Every day and in every way, I m getting better and better
It s a powerful mode of thought that will move heaven and earth, given time. There is no instant solution. But there is progress
THE BIG FALLACY: That when something happens, apparently in a flash, that s all there was. It is never true there are ALWAYS small steps leading up to it.
It can be slow at first but then things start to accelerate I use the rocket ship analogy
Launch is very, very slow. Did you know that 85% of the fuel is used in the first 100 miles from Earth? Once clear of Earth, the rocket can go to the moon and back on just 15% of it s fuel.
Life is often like the rocket ship: very, very slow at first. You need to push and push and then
Life is often like the rocket ship: very, very slow at first. You need to push and push and then Suddenly things start to move faster and faster. A trickle can become a stream, can become a river, can become a tide
Infinity-valued logic also gives us a new look at ethics and morality: Moving towards the right (good), is ethical. Note you could also define sanity in the same way: movement to the right!
Even if life has served you a really bad hand that puts you all the way to the left side Doing something to move over towards the right is sanity, survival and happiness.
The Human Race: do any small amount of good anywhere, is sane (rational) and ethical. A little help, a little donation, a little more food for some!
Even LOVE can be scaled
So here s a simple application my RECOVERY RUBRIC. You can repeat this system at any time. It is especially valuable for those occasions you feel overwhelmed by circumstances or can t cope.
1. Start by making a list of unsolved things that are holding you back in life, from the smallest to the most intimidating. Empty your head as the thoughts come. Don t try to put them in any sequence or hierarchical order.
2. Look over the list and pick something simple you can handle right now. It doesn t matter where on the list this action lies. It is ease and confrontability that counts. You know you could do it.
3. Do that first. To it properly, to a good resolve it s DONE! 4. Choose the next easily do-able item from the list and do that. Then the next etc.
Notice how you feel better and better as you clear away those tasks! Your ability to deal with problems and barriers will also steadily rise. On a gradient, you will find yourself able to handle tougher and tougher areas of confront.
Tasks that you couldn t imagine being solvable at first will come to seem easy. Don t be surprised if a whole heap of real or imaginary problems suddenly melts away
You ll become a winner and you deserve to!
