EXCEMED Blended Education Immune and clinical profiling in multiple sclerosis: laying groundwork for advanced approaches to treatment Live intervention in PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME
Immune and clinical profiling in multiple sclerosis: laying groundwork for advanced approaches to treatment Overview Over the past year, steps have been taken to understand the immunopathogenic mechanisms underlying multiple sclerosis (MS), leading to the discovery of new treatment targets and the development of innovative treatments. Today, there is an extensive therapeutic armamentarium for those with the relapsing remitting form of the disease and new treatment options are also available for progressive MS. Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial in order to prevent disability, but it is still unclear how to select the right treatment for each patient and which is the safest and more effective sequence of therapies. New risks, in fact, have emerged making treatment choices challenging. Complex patients require a comprehensive management programme addressing and managing comorbidities and preventing treatment risks. An EXCEMED Learning Journey EXCEMED offers to learners a complete blended Learning Journey to strengthen knowledge in the main immunological, clinical and therapeutic dynamics characterizing modern MS. We address competence in everyday management of patients as well as confidence in decision making. A multistep approach will be used, encompassing web-based and live activities; all activities in person and online will involve the full interactivity of learners. Educational content will be delivered by international and local speakers with extensive expertise in the MS field. Learning objectives By attending this programme, you will be able to: Interpret genetic, immunological and clinical elements featuring individual multiple sclerosis profile Quantify treatment risks and benefits in different clinical conditions (i.e. pregnancy, comorbidities, paediatric and elderly patients) Specify the unmet needs of patients and doctors in terms of treatment management and quality of life Target audience This programme is designed for neurologists involved in MS management from the Latin American region. Chairs Jorge Correale Raúl Carrea Institute for Neurological Research (FLENI) Edgardo Cristiano Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires 2 3

Register now and receive the EXCEMED invitation to start your Learning Journey! VIDEO LECTURE The first exclusive tutorial is a video lecture with Prof. C. Navas (Colombia) that discusses the patientdoctor relationship and highlights past and future unmet needs in MS. Learning objectives: Contemplate past and future unmet needs of MS patients Consider future unmet needs of MS neurologists Understand expectations and challenges of old and new treatments INTERACTIVE LIBRARY The second exclusive tutorial helps illuminate the content of the upcoming live intervention with the help of the Interactive Library. Get the head start you need to be fully engaged during the in-person learning. Take the opportunity to share your research and publications with the rest of the community using the Library Platform, and submit questions directly to faculty ahead of the live intervention; your question will be addressed by faculty during the live Q&A sessions. Features of the Interactive Library: Literature corner: summarises the key points and related publications for each of the lectures being presented during the live intervention in Buenos Aires Publication exchange: a space for learners to share their research and publications related to the Learning Journey Question time: a chance for leaners to submit a question for the faculty to answer during the live intervention 4 5
The live component of the Learning Journey is a combination of frontal lectures followed by Q&A slots, interactive case studies and parallel working groups. LEARNING OBJECTIVES By attending this live educational workshop you will be able to: Recognize the emerging immunological targets for MS treatments Illustrate new diagnostic criteria for MS Quantify risks of new MS treatments Adapt treatment strategies to common challenging clinical conditions Venue This live educational workshop will take place at the: Melià Buenos Aires hotel Reconquista 945, C1003ABS CABA Language The official language of the live intervention will be English. Simultaneous translation from and to Spanish will be provided. Continuing medical education An application has been made to the EACCME for CME accreditation of the EXCEMED workshop Immune and clinical profiling in multiple sclerosis: laying groundwork for advanced approaches to treatment to be held on in.
