September 2018 Jennifer didn't think she would become homeless this summer. She came to Buffalo to help her family and their children while fleeing a bad situation in another state. Jennifer thought she had a place to live at her family s home, but despite confirming her living arrangements prior to arriving in Buffalo, she found herself with no place to stay. With no money and nowhere to go, she arrived at Friends of Night People. Her car was almost out of gas, she had no extra food, and no shelter, but she said she was okay. Because of donors like you, we were able to help her! We arranged a safe place for her to stay that nigh and provided her with basic essentials, gift cards for breakfast, lunch, and gas. Over the next few days FONP continued to help Jennifer until she was able to find a place to live. During the day Jennifer spent time trying to meet her personal needs and care for the children she came to help. In the evenings, she brought them all to FONP for dinner, clothing, and assistance. Thanks to donors like you, Jennifer is getting back on her feet and has found a place to live. Her story is similar to so many others that go along with the faces of individuals who

come to Friends of Night People. Jennifer didn't expect to be homeless this summer. Thanks to donors like you, we were here for Jennifer and so many others who find themselves in unexpected tough situations. Your donations help us provide her and others with resources that bring immediate help and hope in desperate situations. Today, the smile on Jennifer's face is priceless. Sincerely, Joseph S. Heary Executive Director PS: 40,206 meals were provided through our main kitchen on Hudson and network of partnerships during the months of June, July and August. Each of these meals represents your help. Someone who needs food will get a meal at FONP; and someone like Jennifer will get assistance in overcoming homelessness and support in meeting basic living needs. In this upcoming season, we really count on you to help us advocate the FONP mission in the community and keep those less fortunate in everyone's minds and hearts. What can you do to help this year?

Fall News Letter New Website After months of hard work, we are happy to announce the launch of our new redesigned website. The site will be easier to navigate to obtain information about our organization, volunteering, donating and services we provide. New features on the site include Get Help - to find the help you need, Registered Volunteers - so you can sign up for shifts online, and Feed 716 - to highlight our impact across Buffalo. Donors who previously set-up recurring donations in Network for Good or Mobile Cause will be contacted to change your gift to our new PayPal account as these old accounts will deactivate in October and November. A special thank you to Chakra Communication for at their time and dedication to our mission and this project, and to Kathy Kloc our past relationship manager who continued to help us complete this project. We hope you like our new look!

New Mobile Pantry off to a Great Start We are excited to announce a new mobile pantry in partnership with Black Rock Pantry, Asamblea de Iglesias Cristianas, DePaul Apartments and the Food Bank of Western New York. During our first months of operation, nearly 100 families arrived monthly to receive assistance. The new mobile pantry is held at the DePaul Apartments located at 238 Ontario Street in Riverside on the 1st Friday of each month. Community Meals Update: Since November 2017, FONP s community meal provided in partnership with Asamblea de Iglesias Cristiana has continued to grow. The meals are provided at 213 Ontario Street every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 6pm. Pastor Juan Carlos said, "Since we have begun our partnership, we have seen the way the people in our community are being affected in the best way. We truly did not realize this many families in our community would need this helping hand but we are more than grateful to be able New Staff Friends of Night People would like to introduce the new additions to our staff. Kim Evans joined our kitchen in May as Sous Chef. Makenzie DePetrillo started in May as our Community Outreach Worker. In July, we welcomed Patty Krehbiel as our new Relationship Manager

to be a part of helping out in our neighborhood." Party for the People & 2018 Silver Spoon Award On August 1 st, the 9th Annual Party for the People was held at Flying Bison located at 890 Seneca Street in Larkinville. It was an evening filled with great music, great food and of course great people. This year s event raised over $8,000 which will provide food and necessities to address the effects and impact of poverty in our community. We would like to thank local businesses who supported the event! Anne Harrington and the Lunch Bunch were recognized at the Party for the People with this year s Silver Spoon award. The Lunch Bunch has been serving lunch at Friends of the Night People for four years. Led by Anne Harrington, they prepare and serve lunch at FONP every Wednesday and Thursday. Pictured above is the Wednesday crew.
