About Eponicity Eponicity s Eponaquest Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) methods encourage us to look within ourselves to find balance, regain strength, renew spirit, discover our power, the ability to play and experience joy. The horse, a highly sensitive animal, has finely tuned its senses to understand intention over its 60 million years of evolution. The horse s survival depends upon this ability. Human intention is reflected in our emotional state and studies indicate that the electromagnetic field (shown to surround the heart) changes according to our emotions. Horses pick up on these electromagnetic fields, thus sensing our emotions, and through their behavior they reflect back to us what they see in us. EFL exercises can help us to raise our consciousness to unlock old patterns and surface the troubling emotions that block us from feeling the emotions we prefer feeling, like joy, happiness and contentment.
Equine The way horses sense, think and behave can help humans better understand how we sense, think and behave Facilitated Activities are uniquely designed, facilitated and de-briefed to deliver profound and powerful experiences Experiential Learning Having an experience is a powerful way to learn and create sustainable change (rather than just books or lectures)
Horses. Magnify and reflect emotions, they make conscious in humans what is unconscious, the non-verbal part, the intuition, the senses - our authentic selves. Highly sensitive animals, they respond to subtle changes in our body language and energy, providing immediate and objective feedback on our presence in that moment. Impact on us. Examining our own reactions to equine behavior leads to powerful new insights into our own natural abilities and talents. This self-reflection and discovery enhances and promotes our personal and professional growth. 4
Exploration in understanding and using emotion as information. Using Linda Kohanov s Power of the Herd model, we will look at herd roles and relate them to human groups and personal balance. We will discuss how social conditioning can block us from our own authenticity. Work with horses using the Eponaquest model of EFL Discuss how EFL exercises can compliment other forms of professional therapeutic programs. Discover how EFL can help us to unlock the key to joy by feeling and processing emotions. Eponicity 2015 www.leavesandlizards.com 5
Joy, rather than happiness, is the goal of life, for joy is the emotion which accompanies our fulfilling our natures as human beings. It is based on the experience of one's identity as a being of worth and dignity. -Rollo May 6
Horses really do give you what you need, rather than what you think you want. This is their most powerful lesson as so often I focus on what I think I want and probably ignore what I actually need. So I end up as you guys say - just surviving, rather than thriving. That was a big lesson for me. (Masseuse) The experience brought me closer to myself, so much closer to myself. (Physician) After I gained his trust and he really believed in me, the horse followed me without a lead rope or anything. I felt amazing, so powerful and capable! What it took for me to gain that trust is something I won t forget. (Engineer) All of us felt supported, physically, emotionally and mentally and certainly spiritually. To be directly in contact with nature and horses, in such a beautiful environment with gorgeous accommodation and wonderful food, it just doesn t get any better. (Project Manager) The setting, the horses and the people made me feel stronger, calmer and better about myself. I felt like I had been boosted by the experience. (Corporate Executive) What an opportunity and what an enriching, empowering and life-changing experience. The whole group (a diverse mix, many with little or no horse experience) felt the same. Seriously, everyone could benefit from some of this. (Attorney) 7
