Dr Yasmin George invested in Cerec last year and was immediately wowed with both the concept and the way Cerec would help market the practice and generate more patients. She decided that a couple of pages in the practice brochure describing the system and procedure was the best way to get the message out to patients. Here is what she wrote... Why patients are choosing CEREC CEREC from Ceramic Systems is the world's only system for the fabrication of all ceramic dental restorations in one visit. You can be in and out in a single visit with a permanent, all ceramic crown, onlay, or veneer! For you, the patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of your hectic schedule for dental care. So, why are thousands of people worldwide choosing the CEREC restorative technique for their dental needs? Dr Yasmin George BDS is a member of the BSRD and BACD and an advisor to the Pankey Institute. She is an experienced restorative dentist and has completed many comprehensive cosmetic cases. Cerec is now a major part of her routine procedures and is used every day. Smile Enhancement We can use CEREC for more than just crowns and fillings. CEREC is capable of producing any single tooth restoration. Chipped or discoloured front teeth can be repaired with beautiful CEREC porcelain anterior crowns or veneers. Your smile makes a lasting first impression. Single Appointment Dental Care Most advanced dental restorative methods involving laboratory work require more than one visit to the dentist. This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of anaesthetic, your tooth prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You make a second appointment for a couple of weeks later, get another injection, and have a permanent restoration put on. Why go to the dentist a second time when you don't have to? With CEREC, the procedure is done in a single appointment. The materials used closely match the composition of natural tooth structure and are chemically bonded to the tooth. This means that when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. CEREC also helps preserve as much sound tooth tissue as possible. With a history of nearly 20 years, this equipment has helped dentists place over 1 million restorations. Using metal free materials that are the closest to your natural enamel, CEREC gives you the highest quality restorative care.
The CEREC Procedure Exam and Preparation First, we examine the tooth and determine the appropriate treatment. It could be a simple filling, or a full crown, depending on how much healthy tooth structure is remaining and our clinical judgement. Next, we administer a local anaesthetic and prepare your tooth for the restoration, removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue. This preparation is just as we would do for many other restorative techniques. Optical Impression We then take an optical impression or scan of the prepared tooth. Instead of filling a tray with impression material that you must bite into and hold in your mouth until it hardens, we coat the tooth with a non-toxic, tasteless powder. A camera is then used to take a digital picture of your tooth. This whole optical impression process takes only a few minutes. No Temporaries Next, the CEREC machine helps us create the restoration for your tooth. While you relax with a coffee in the lounge, the CEREC 3D software takes the digital picture and converts it into a 3-dimensional virtual model on the computer screen. We then use our dental expertise to design the restoration using the CEREC 3D computer program. Within a few minutes, the restoration design data is sent to a separate milling machine. A ceramic block that matches your tooth shade is placed in the milling machine. About 10-20 minutes later, your all-ceramic, tooth-coloured restoration is finished and ready to bond in place. Finally we try the restoration in your mouth to ensure proper fit and bite. The restoration is then polished or glazed and bonded to the prepared tooth. Your tooth is restored with no "temporary" or return trip necessary. All of this is done in a single appointment! What is CEREC? CEREC is an acronym... Chairside: The technology is in the dental operatory and used while you are in the chair. Economical: The procedure is economical for both dentist and patient. Restorations: The procedure restores your tooth to its natural beauty, function, and strength. Esthetic: The restorations are metal-free and tooth-coloured. Ceramic: High-strength ceramics are used that are close in composition to your natural tooth structure. Dr George says that... Initially I was concerned about the learning curve. The Dental Training Institute handled everything perfectly. I had only to pick up the phone often when a patient was in the chair and help was there immediately. Ceramic Systems have been involved with Cerec since 1994 and it shows. Dr Yasmin George BDS
T-Scan also raises the bar for occlusal analysis by employing patented grid-based sensor technology. The ultra-thin, reusable sensor is shaped to fit the dental arch. The software s vivid graphics display tooth contact data instantaneously and accurately, highlighting each tooth and the force level exerted on that tooth during occlusion. With this data, visualizing and achieving the balance of the perfect bite is easy to accomplish.
