[Basics] Johns Manville's DuraSpun The critical layer in between Johns Manville is a global leader in the manufacturing of nonwovens. When it comes to geotextiles, architects have relied on DuraSpun polyester spunbond for more than 20 years as the critical layer in between. In the past, physical functions in the field of engineering, e.g. filtration, were mainly performed by mineral substances. Their use today would not only extend construction time, but increase costs. The better choice Johns Manville DuraSpun polyester spunbond is the better choice because of its effective, economical and long-lasting solution to construction problems. It supplements traditional construction materials and processes and increases safety. Due to their outstanding properties, DuraSpun geotextiles are used in a wide variety of applications: Road construction Railroad construction Shore reinforcement and hydraulic engineering Industrial and residential engineering Landscape and horticulture Landfill covering Sport facilities 3

[Product characteristics] DuraSpun polyester spunbond A nonwoven with many advantages DuraSpun geotextile features superior characteristics in building physics. DuraSpun displays excellent heat and light resistance. Even at brief exposures of approximately 200 degrees C, its properties are not significantly changed. Tests on polyester spunbond in service prove its longterm resistance to all substances occurring naturally in soil and water and to microorganism. Put your trust in reliable structures The filament intersection points of DuraSpun are not fixed and provide ideal elongation properties up to 60%. Thermally and chemically bonded nonwovens typically fall short of this value. DuraSpun polyester spunbond reliably protects against perforation and punctual stress with its high penetration force and its exceptional elongation properties. Another important advantage of DuraSpun is the high specific gravity of polyester. It facilitates underwater installations. Nonwovens made from other polymers require complicated weighting. In addition, polyester spunbond is much more resistant to ultraviolet radiation and its creep tendency is only marginal. Characteristics of DuraSpun : Density 1,38 g/cm 2 Softening point approx. + 230 C Melting point + 256 C Rotting resistance* excellent Elongation excellent Creep tendency (at constant load) negligible UV resistance excellent Infobox Polyester spunbond Polyester spunbond is produced by melting polyester chips that are spun into continuous filaments and then laid on a conveyor belt to form a nonwoven. Afterwards, the nonwoven is bonded solely by needle punching without chemical additives or thermal action. * Resistant to all natural substances present in soil 5
[Functions] DuraSpun The Multi-Geotextile DuraSpun polyester spunbond are approved geotextiles that perform several functions simultaneously. DuraSpun provides permanent separation Soil layers of different compositions and properties are separated by DuraSpun and permanently prevented from mixing. Thus DuraSpun ensures frost resistance and the load-bearing capacity required by construction. DuraSpun has excellent filtration properties and prevents erosion Water can pass through in every direction without pressure build-up. At the same time, DuraSpun retains soil matter, which is important for stability and erosion prevention. DuraSpun drains reliably By collecting water with its bulky structure, DuraSpun drains in a controlled manner at its surface plane, therefore providing the necessary draining action. DuraSpun protects against damage With its superior puncture strength, flexibility and bulk, DuraSpun effectively protects waterproof coatings and foils potential mechanical damage. DuraSpun stabilizes and reinforces Construction areas are additionally stabilized and reinforced by the bulky structure and the strength of DuraSpun. More flexibility and efficiency Johns Manville offers DuraSpun in widths ranging from 1 m to 5,40 m, creating complete planning flexibility. Even big projects can be managed quickly and efficiently thanks to a roll width of up to 5,40 m. 6
