SECTION 1: ETHICS OF THE PROFESSION (Minimum of 30 points required over a 3-year period) ETHICS OF THE PROFESSION value 1.1 Attendance at a training event (e.g. refresher, workshop, seminar, webinar etc) run by a professional body (e.g. ASLIA, AUSIT), NAATI or language service provider (e.g. hospital, agency) specifically concerned with ethics of the profession. NOTE: NAATI TEST PREPARATION WORKSHOPS CANNOT BE USED TO CLAIM POINTS IN THIS SECTION 1.2 Attendance at a training event (e.g. refresher, workshop, seminar, webinar etc.) specifically concerned with ethics that is relevant to translating and/or interpreting practice. 1.3 Facilitation of a training event (e.g. refresher, workshop, seminar, webinar etc.) for a professional body (e.g. ASLIA, AUSIT), NAATI or language service provider (e.g. hospital, agency) specifically concerned with ethics of the profession. 1.4 Teaching ethics for translators and interpreters as part of a formal course that meets AQTF (Australian Quality Training Framework) criteria, for 6 months or more. You can only claim limited workload (e.g. 2 hrs per week for 18 weeks = 36 hours). This can only be claimed by practitioners living in a country where the primary language is English. (Maximum points in a year) Minimum of a full day (7 hours) 2.3.2 Attendance at an AUSLAN workshop held by recognised organisations providing expert language tuition. SECTION 3: TRANSLATING AND INTERPRETING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT (Minimum of 30 points required over a 3-year period) TRANSLATING AND INTERPRETING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT 3.1 Attendance at a formal translating or interpreting professional development session, workshop, seminar or webinar conducted by a professional organisation in the industry, NAATI, university department, private or government language service agency. (Maximum 60 points in a year) 3.2 Attendance at a formal translating or interpreting professional development seminar or conference including linguistics or deaf studies. (Maximum 60 points in a year) 3.3 Attainment of a NAATI accreditation at a higher level or additional accreditation (e.g. Paraprofessional to Professional). 3.4 Attendance at a formal professional development workshop, training module or short course at a tertiary education institution on translating or interpreting or a related topic. (Maximum 120 points in a year) 3.5 Completion of a formal professional development workshop, course unit or module at a tertiary institution on translating or interpreting or a related topic. (Maximum 40 points in a year) 4.2 Attendance at a translating or interpreting networking session, forum, awareness day, professional association branch meeting/national AGM or service provider developmental team meetings. (Maximum points in a year) 4.3 Active participation in the ASLIA, AUSIT, WAITI, NAATI or other translating or interpreting language forum posting a helpful message at least twice in a year. (Maximum points in a year) 4.4 Active membership of a LOTE cultural club or similar body or contribution to LOTE or specialist media (e.g. community newsletter, radio, community television). (Maximum points in a year) 4.5 Induction and orientation: Attendance at a translating or interpreting industry related employer/workplace induction and orientation. 4.6 Paid up membership of a translating or interpreting professional association or representative body: (e.g. AUSIT, ASLIA, WAITI, Professionals Australia (T&I section), AALITRA or CITAA).
