Police Officer Borough of Dormont Police Department The Borough of Dormont Police Department is a local police department which provides police protection and life safety services to the residents of the Borough of Dormont and mutual aid to our surrounding communities. The Borough of Dormont Police Department is currently seeking applications for the position of Police Officer, a paid, full-time position within the Department. Qualified candidate for the position of Police Officer shall have the following minimum qualifications at the time of application: o Possess a high school diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED). o US citizen and twenty-one (21) years of age. o Be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission (Act 120), (MPOETC) 53 Pa. C.S.A 2161 et seq.. o Possess a minimum of sixty (60) college credits from an accredited college and/or University. o Be Physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer. o Possess a valid motor vehicle operator s license and be eligible to legally operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, medical examination, and psychological testing appropriate for the position. The annual salary for this position is $56,709.84. Interested candidates can obtain applications at the Borough of Dormont and on-online at www.boro.dormont.pa.us. The physical agility and written test are scheduled for Saturday, April 21 st, 2018.

Minimum Requirement Checklist Act 120 Certification (copy of Act 120 diploma and/or copy of final grades) A copy of a valid driver s license A copy of your high school diploma and/or GED Proof of sixty (60) college credits (transcripts or copy of diploma) Copy of your Birth Certificate Proof of the above minimum requirements, must be submitted along with the Borough application. If any of these items are not provided at the time of the application deadline, you will be considered ineligible to proceed in the hiring the process and will not be permitted to take the physical and written tests. APPLICANT S RELEASE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST As an applicant for the Civil Service Examination for entry level police officer, I understand that I will be required to undergo a Physical Agility Test consisting of the following: 300 METER RUN Cover the required distance of 300 meters within 64 seconds SIT-UPS With legs bent at a 90 degree angle, heels on the mat or ground, fingers interlocked behind the head, lift the body, touch elbows to knees and return to the starting position, shoulders touching the mat or ground 35 times within one (1) minute. Feet may be together or apart and may be held, but not knelt upon by another. Fingers must stay interlocked behind the head throughout the event. The back cannot be arched and the buttocks cannot be lifted from the mat. PUSH-UPS From a front supported position, hands and feet (toes), lower the body as a unit with shoulders, hips and legs in the same plane, lowering the body by bending the elbows until the upper arms are parallel to the ground and return to a front supported position by straightening the arms 18 times. Rest is permitted in the up position. There is no time limit. BODY DRAG Grasping a simulated body object, drag the 200 lb. object a distance of 50 feet: 25 feet in one direction, around a marker and 25 feet back to the starting point within thirty (30) seconds. The object may not be carried and must maintain contact with the ground. 1.5 MILE RUN Cover a measured distance of 1.5 miles on an assigned course within a 14 minutes and 15 seconds (14:15) time frame. I have read and understand the requirements of the Physical Agility Test set forth above and knowing this, I believe myself to be in good health and physically fit to participate in this test. I represent to the best of my knowledge and belief I have no physical condition that would likely cause physical injury, disability or illness as a result of attempting to perform the elements of the test as described above. In consideration of processing my application and intending to be legally bound, I hereby release, indemnify and hold harmless the Borough of Dormont, their agents, their elected officials, their appointed officials, their Civil Service Commission and their members and the owners, custodians, directors and employees of the property on which the test is given from all claims, demands and suits which may arise or result from any injury or illness which is caused by or results from taking or attempting to take the test as set forth above. The physical agility test is scheduled for April 21 st, 2018 at 9:00am at Keystone Oaks High School. Candidates are asked to arrive at 8:30am for check in. Check in will be in the High School Gymnasium. Please bring your driver s license with you to the physical and written tests. Candidates will be given a short break in between the physical and written tests. The written test will be given at the Tom Lloyd Recreation Center, located above Dormont Pool. The test will begin at 12:00pm and the candidates are asked to arrive at 11:30am for the check in process. Candidates must pass all the components of the physical agility test to be able to take the written examination. The physical agility test requirements are attached to this application. Please bring the Physical Agility Release Form with you to test. You will not be permitted to participate in the physical agility test without providing a signed waiver.
