Corporate Fundraising how you can help

Introducing Kent MS Therapy Centre As soon as you enter the building you feel the positive energy Kent MS Therapy Centre is a profoundly positive and forward-looking place

The Kent MS Therapy Centre is a completely self-funded charity with no statutory or other regular core funding support. We rely on the generosity of the local community to help us raise the 300,000 a year it costs to keep the centre running. There are about 2,000 people in East Kent and more than 100,000 nationally living with MS and it is the most commonly diagnosed neurological condition in young people. There is no cure for MS, however a range of therapies and treatments alleviate individual symptoms allowing those living with MS to continue to enjoy a full and active life. On-going support for those with the condition, their families and carers makes a significant impact on quality of life. That s why the help of organisations like yours is so important. What happens at the centre? Our new MS Therapy Centre opened in 2015, having been first established in 1984, and offers first class facilities to support people affected by MS. The centre is here to support anyone affected by MS, whether it be the person with MS, a family member, carer or friend. The centre covers the whole of Kent with the next nearest centre being in Swanley in North Kent. We provide a range of therapies to relieve and treat the symptoms associated with MS, such as: hydrotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, physiotherapy, exercise classes, counselling and support. Perhaps most importantly, the Kent MS Therapy Centre is a social hub that allows members the opportunity to share experiences, problems or ideas or just to relax and have fun with friends. In this wonderful new state of the art facility we continue to create a happy, caring and positive environment with much laughter, carrying on the tradition established when the original centre first opened in 1984. Last year we provided over 4,000 treatment sessions and, with the new and increased therapies now available, we are expecting this to increase significantly in coming years.

Our Aims To radically improve the lives of those with MS, their families and those who care for them and to be recognised as the next point of contact following MS diagnosis: by the provision of a range of complementary therapies and specialist clinics by giving advice, support and information to those living with MS, their carers and families, in an environment which encourages mutual support and friendship by being a Centre of Excellence which enables selfmanagement of the condition Key Facts Kent MS Therapy Centre is entirely self-funding with no statutory support There are an estimated 2,000 people in East Kent and more than 100,000 nationally who live with MS Over the past 32 years Kent MS Therapy Centre has provided an estimated 83,000 hours of support, therapy and guidance for people living with MS and their friends and families Simply to keep the Centre open requires 300,000 per year We have a paid staff team of 9 Of the funds raised 70% goes directly into providing services for members Getting involved is good for business When your company chooses to support a charity such as the Kent MS Therapy Centre as well as directly helping us you can use your involvement to: increase staff morale through active participation in a good cause build your brand in the local community generate business through increased networking meet your corporate social responsibility goals If you adopt the Kent MS Therapy Centre as a charity we can work with you to make the partnership successful for us both.

How can you help with fundraising? As a corporate fundraising partner you can get involved in raising money for the centre in many different ways - from holding internal ad hoc fundraising activities to planning a structured programme of events and sponsoring of some of our major charity events throughout the year. In this pack there are just a few ideas to kick-start your fundraising, but you can do whatever you want (so long as it s legal and ethical!) It doesn t have to be big or extravagant, It just needs to be FUN and raise money! Visit our Corporate Fundraising page on our website, http://kentmstc.org.uk/fundraising/ for resources to help you with your plans. Ideas to get you started Business 500 group Our Business 500 group is a great way for local businesses to support us. By making a regular commitment of 500 per year (or 41.50 per month) you can help us to secure dependable income enabling us to better plan our services. Collection boxes A collection box is a simple way of giving our funds a real boost any business, large or small, can take collection boxes into the office or for staff to take home. We ll coordinate with you to collect the boxes on a regular basis, usually twice a year at a time to suit you. Gifts in kind Almost anything produced or sold by a business can be given as a gift in kind either for us to resell or use at the Centre. Other creative gifts in kind that can have a real impact include: adding our literature in with your mailshots, payslips or invoices putting a page about us on your website You can find out more about gifts in kind from the HM Revenue & Customs website: https://www.gov.uk/taxlimited-company-gives-to-charity/overview Employee fundraising Fundraising for Kent MS Therapy Centre is a great way to engage staff in a motivating, creative project that helps to build teams and create a positive corporate image. Indeed, employee fundraising activities are one of the single most popular ways for businesses to support us. Employee donations through payroll With a Payroll Giving scheme, your employees can donate to charity directly from their pay before tax is deducted. It is perhaps the simplest way for you and your employees to demonstrate their support for local good causes. Payroll giving schemes are straightforward to set up and are a great way of engaging your staff in community investment.

Employee volunteering Making time for your employees to volunteer in support of the Kent MS Therapy Centre allows your employees to work on a specific project and see immediate results. Working as part of a volunteer team is both good for morale and it puts members of your staff team out there in the community, demonstrating your support in a very visible way. Volunteer projects can include: Gardening and Landscaping Projects Construction Projects Events organisation Professional Services IT Projects Customer service promotions You can promote your support of the charity to your customers and encourage them to join in too, for example making a donation if they appreciate the service they have received from you.
