Special senses: Olfaction The signal cascade of olfaction in mammals

Shepherd 2006 APs generated by olfactory neurons are integrated in glomeruli of the olfactory bulb.

Olfactory information is relayed from the olfactory bulb to the olfactory cortex and to the hypothalamus, and ultimately to many other parts of the brain.

Olfaction is used in near sensing, remote sensing, and to signal territories or sexual receptivity
