The meaning of "mindfulness" and how this can assist addicts remain in a state of "sustained recovery" will be presented. Various case scenarios will be examined and the distinction between "using thought to recovery from addiction" vs. "being aware/mindful about the nature of thinking itself" as related to addictive impulses, will be carefully presented. Additionally, the observational process known as "choice less awareness" will be presented to show how "relapse impulses" can die down naturally without the polarities of indulgence and forced control that can have the unintended effects of intensification of impulses that the addict is trying to extinguish.
