Join us at s Survey of Current Issues in Surgical Anesthesia This symposium is designed to present the most recent information on clinical practice issues facing anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists. A diverse faculty will provide an update on nonoperating room anesthesia, enhanced recovery and perioperative surgical home care, as well as anesthesia for bariatric surgery, orthopedic surgery, and obstetric procedures. Learning activities will be presented in several formats, including traditional lectures, workshops, and case discussions. Additional break-out sessions include workshops, practice updates, and problembased learning discussions presented in didactic or hands-on workshop formats. Learning Objectives Describe the clinical issues associated with providing anesthesia in settings outside the operating room Summarize the risks associated with anesthesia in patients with obesity and describe practices to reduce the risks I dentify the benefits of wellness programs for surgical patients, especially in those who are obese, and describe the role anesthesiologists can play Summarize the benefits of wellness programs for anesthesiologists and their potential impact on patient outcomes Describe current challenges and best practices associated with anesthesia in patients undergoing orthopedic surgery Describe current challenges and best practices associated with anesthesia in patients undergoing obstetric procedures Discuss the issues associated with providing perioperative surgical home care and describe the role of anesthesiologists in this model Who Should Attend?
