2012-2013 Lions/Lioness 11 E-2 Convention Quality Inn, West Branch April 26, 27, 28 There is still time to get your reservations in for the District 11 E-2 Convention which will be held later this month. If you need to take along a pet, you can make a reservation at the Super 8 Hotel which is right behind the Quality Inn. Rates are the same. Lion Wayne will have hotel and registration forms at our meeting on April 11 th. Make your reservations. The Oscoda Lions Club is one of the three host clubs. It would be nice to have a good showing of our members. Advance ticket sales for the District 11 E-2 Raffle will be available at the April 11 th meeting. Tickets are $5.00 each or three for $10.00. There will be some great prizes again this year. The raffle raises money to support the convention so there is no fee to register. The raffle is open to Lion and Lioness members only. Sight and Hearing Sweepstakes Update Thanks go to Lions Gary Rehberg, Bob Visser, Bud Rick, Brenda Lahti, Carole Schultz and Craig Clarke who braved the cold at Family Fare to sell Lions of Michigan Foundation tickets and Lion Mints. As usual our community was very generous and we were able to sell 105 tickets over the two days as well as 163 rolls of mints. Twenty of the tickets were from direct donations. Our next two day sale is at Neiman s in Tawas on April 12 and 13. The Neiman s sign up is complete. We will be back at Family Fare on April 19 and 20. There will be a worker signup sheet for Family Fare at the club meeting on Thursday. So far we have sold $3,600 in sweepstakes tickets. We should be able to reach $5,000 to $6,000 by the time we finish. Remember that half of what we sell comes back as a grant to our club. The drawing will take place at our convention in West Branch. Ticket stubs and money need to be turned in to Lion Wayne by April 20 th. Special Lion Thoughts Lion Florence and Lion Al continue to make improvement after surgery and other health issues. Lion Newana will be having shoulder surgery on April 12 th. Lion Tony s daughter, Molly, is doing well since her surgery and will return to school this week. Board Business
