Welcome Address Dear Colleagues The survival rate following myocardial infarction has improved significantly over the last half century through improved pathways of care, revascularisation strategies, and drug therapy. In spite of these key advances a significant minority of patients suffer cardiac arrest and circulatory failure with a high subsequent mortality in spite of timely resuscitation and revascularisation. Resuscitation and the management of circulatory shock represent therefore a key unmet need and this meeting will focus on management strategies and the role for mechanical circulatory support in this complex patient cohort. We very much welcome the partnership of both the British Cardiovascular Society and the European Acute Cardiovascular Care Association in such an important area of patient care. We would be happy to welcome you on October 2 nd this year at the Royal Society of Medicine in London and look forward to seeing you. With best regards. Yours sincerely, Course Director Thomas F. Lüscher Course Co-Director Shouvik Haldar Course Co-Director
