Brigg Skydive Information pack Thank you for your interest in taking part in one of our first group tandem skydiving events at Hibaldstow Airfield on Saturday 23rd July 2011. We hope this pack will provide you with all the information you need, but if after reading you have any questions, please contact the MS Trust s fundraising team. Included in your pack: Your tandem skydive How do I jump for free? Frequently Asked Questions Raising your sponsorship What s it really like tales from past MS Trust Jumpers! How to book your place For more information, contact the MS Trust s Fundraising Team on 01462 476700 or email fundraising@mstrust.org.uk

Your Tandem Skydive A tandem skydive is the ideal first jump; you will experience the thrill of freefall and enjoy a high performance canopy ride whilst being harnessed to an experienced instructor at all times throughout the descent. On arrival you will be introduced to your tandem instructor who will take you through all the training required for you to do your skydive. The training takes about 30 minutes and your instructor will be able to answer any questions that you may have. Tandem Skydive highlights! Your jump and training will be completed in a day You will be harnessed to an experienced parachute instructor at all times Your jump will take place from 15,000 feet - the highest altitude in the UK* Freefall down to 5,000 feet at 120mph! With the right conditions, you will be able to help your instructor steer the parachute around the sky, before coming into land The landing will be controlled by your instructor You will be presented with a certificate to commemorate your skydive *without needing extra oxygen. Please note: Parachuting does have an element of risk, and safety is the number one priority. The tandem will not take place if you have consumed alcohol on the day, or is still under the influence from the night before; you will be asked to re-book a new date and will have to pay the deposit again. The most thrilling, exciting and scariest moment in my life... but would do it again today if I could! Chelsea

How do I jump for free? All you have to do is raise 395 or more for the MS Trust, and the cost of your skydive is paid out of your sponsorship money. To reserve your place on the Brigg group tandem skydive, please return your completed registration form with a non-refundable deposit of 75 to the address on the form. This should be in the form of a credit card payment or a cheque made payable to Target Skysports. On the day of your jump you will be required to make the following payments: 120 to Skydive Hibaldstow to cover the final balance of your skydive This payment can be in cash, debit or credit card. NB: Please note that credit cards carry a 3% charge. A minimum of 200 to the MS Trust This payment should be handed to MS Trust staff upon arrival at the airfield, in the form of cash, cheques or postal orders. Any cheques must be made payable to MS Trust and may be post-dated by up to a month to allow you time to collect the money from your sponsors. Important information: All credit card transactions to Skydive Hibaldstow (Target Skysports) will carry a 3% charge If you are writing any cheques for your deposit or for the MS Trust, you must have a cheque guarantee / bankers card with you and you should look on the back of the card to see what the limit is. The limit on the card may be 50, 100 or 250; this means that you can only write a cheque up to that value each day. You cannot transfer to another date unless 48 hours notice is given. Failure to give 48 hours notice of non-attendance will mean forfeit of the 75 deposit. If you choose to raise money using an online fundraising page, you must inform the MS Trust so that we can keep track of your fundraising progress; please call us on 01462 476700. Please always ensure you raise enough money off-line to cover the jump costs as you will need to pay the airfield upon arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions Can anyone Jump? Age Restrictions: The minimum age to take part in a skydive is 16, and anyone under 18 does require parental consent. Medical Restrictions: If you are aged 18 to 39 you can fill the medical form in yourself as long as you do not suffer from any of the medical conditions listed in the Medical Restrictions section of the Booking Terms and Conditions. If you are 18-39 and have a medical condition listed, you must speak to your doctor before booking (we can provide you with a medical form for them to sign before you book please call us on 01462 476 700). If you are aged 40 or over you must get a doctor to sign the medical form. Weight Restrictions: Skydive Hibaldstow has a standard upper weight limit of 16 stone for all skydivers. Please ensure that you weigh yourself fully clothed as weight limitations are strictly adhered to and you may be asked to be weighed on the day. The booking fee is non-refundable if you are found to be over the weight restrictions. Although it is less important to be physically fit for a tandem skydive, students must be aware that some weather conditions are less suitable for students who are less physically fit, less agile or for those with physical disabilities these students may have to wait for more favourable weather in order to complete their skydive. What about the weather? Skydiving is a weather dependent sport, and sometimes your jump may be delayed until the conditions are suitable. Staff at the airfield will do their best to keep you fully informed of the forecast ahead. If the weather is too bad then it is your responsibility to re-book and return to the parachute centre on another occasion to complete your jump. What do I wear? You will be provided with a jumpsuit to protect your clothes, but we recommend that you wear loose fitting clothes i.e. tracksuits or sports gear. For footwear, we recommend lace-up trainers; boots are not advisable. The jump centre will also provide you with a hat, gloves and goggles, and it is possible for you to wear glasses or contact lenses for the jump. What time will I jump? Unfortunately we cannot give an exact time of day that you will jump. Once you have arrived, there is some paperwork to complete and then your training. Weather permitting you will jump as soon as possible. Please allow all day to complete your skydive. (Please pass this information on to any spectators that will be attending with you!) What facilities are there at the airport? The facilities at the airfield include a spectator area 50 metres from the tandem landing area, an onsite café with vending machines, a games room, disabled access and toilets, an onsite bunkhouse accommodation, and free camping with hot showers.

Will I need insurance? The amount you pay on the day will include your BPA insurance which covers you for Personal Liability 3rd Party insurance for 2 million. If you require personal accident insurance then cover can be arranged through either www.parachutingcover.com or www.extremeplus.co.uk. Can I get my jump filmed, and how much does it cost? This is a fantastic way to remember your Skydive! You will have your own free fall camera person who will capture you preparing on the ground, going out to the aircraft, exiting at around 15,000 feet, and will fly in front of you and film your landing. The total cost of the DVD and stills is 95. This can be booked in advance or on the day of your jump (save 5 by pre-booking!). Where is Skydive Hibaldstow? We will provide you with further directions to Skydive Hibaldstow at Hibaldstow Airfield on receipt of your booking. Address: Skydive Hibaldstow Hibaldstow Airfield Hibaldstow near Brigg North Lincolnshire DN20 9NN

Raising Your Sponsorship BE BOLD! Start by asking everyone you know the more people you ask, the more you will raise. Try to get payment up front to halve the effort. Always start each sponsorship form with a generous sponsor as this will set a high standard for the rest - it really does work! Online fundraising is a quick and easy way to reach friends and family all over the globe, update them on your progress and tell them about the MS Trust. We will give you step-by-step instructions on setting up an online sponsor form. Ask your employer to sponsor you too many companies actually match pound for pound. Hold one big event, with a raffle or an auction. Sell tickets in advance and you could achieve most of your sponsorship in one go! Arrange a 10 menu at a local restaurant on one of their quiet nights and charge friends 20 to attend. Do this twice as it s so easy. Collect at a local football ground or pack bags at a supermarket we can provide collecting boxes, T-shirts and any other materials you may need. Place collection boxes in some local shops and bars - you ll be surprised at how other people s small change can add up. Ask friends and family to sponsor you instead of giving you birthday or Christmas presents. Hold a dinner party for friends and ask for donations. Use our My Supper for MS host pack, including invitations and recipes: www.mstrust.org.uk/mysupper Hold a car boot sale (get your family and friends to have a clear out they will be grateful!) or auction items for charity on ebay. You are doing something quite amazing make sure you tell EVERYONE and let your local newspaper and radio know, too! With a bit of thought, planning and help from your family and friends, you ll have reached the target before you know it GOOD LUCK!!!

What s it really like? Our skydivers share their experiences! The Jump itself... The jump was absolutely amazing and I ve never had such a rush in my life! I m now considering trying to take the course in freefalling next summer. I would certainly recommend this to anyone! Kevin I had the most fantastic day ever! I have suffered from depression for a few years and the whole experience really lifted me out of the vicious cycle. Sonia The freedom that jumping out of a plane gave me was absolutely amazing. It is a feeling that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Sharon It was perhaps the most exciting and thrilling experience of my life. I would definitely jump again! Jack Don t hold back, go for it. You will never experience anything like it, ever! Sarah Support at the airfield... The weather, the atmosphere, the friendly staff and the charming instructor and cameraman really made our day. I was still literally jumping up and down with excitement 5 hours later! Sonia My instructor Mad Chris was smashing, he was funny and gave me lots of confidence. Rita The people at the airfield were really nice and the instructors put you at ease. They were organised and went out of their way to be helpful. I now have an amazing video to look back at! Zoe The extra harness they fitted me with enabled me to lift my legs at the time of landing. Sue My instructor Grant was absolutely fantastic and I couldn t have wished for a nicer and more helpful chap. The airfield did everything to accommodate me, including lifting me up into the plane and catching me when I landed! Their professionalism and service was second to none and they treated me very respectfully without making me feel disabled. Andrea

Raising money... I m really glad I had the opportunity to do something I have always wanted to do as well as raise money for a well deserved charity!! Natalie Most people were very willing to support my fundraising. Be very organised and methodical and start early. Deborah Fundraising for my jump wasn t hard, as it was for a fantastic charity and everyone was wiling to give something Sapphire I work in a care centre so I put up a sponsor form and a box for donations. We also held a fayre with cakes, cards, games etc. to raise money. Karen Don t be afraid to ask your neighbours, even if you don t know them. Local shops can be very supportive as can your local newspaper. Lisa Before I signed up for the jump I didn t know whether I would reach the minimum sponsorship level I was amazed by everyone s generosity and expect others would be to Karen, who raised 1141 for the MS Trust Fundraising was a challenge but made the jump more worthwhile. I would suggest to future fundraisers that they hold an event to raise money, rather than just asking for sponsorship. It is great to know that you can have fun and make a difference. Skydive Hibaldstow Booking Terms and Conditions Deposits/Payments: The deposits and payments are completely non-refundable. Once the date of your jump is booked you are required to give a minimum of 48 hours notice to change the name or date and an admin fee may be incurred. Adverse weather conditions: Should the weather conditions be unsuitable for a tandem skydive it will be re-arranged for an alternative mutually-convenient date. Customers are welcome to call on the morning of their skydive if they are concerned about the weather. The centre will be open all day and we will only call customers to cancel their booking on the day in exceptionally bad weather as forecasts can, especially given the specific airspace within which we fly, be unreliable and changeable over the course of the day. 12 month limit Tandems please also see notes on insurance In the unfortunate event that a customer is unable to skydive on their chosen day, they have one year from the first time they registered at the airfield to return and complete the jump. After this point a BPA renewal fee of 35 (2010 price subject to change). Refusals: Although extremely rare, on occasion a customer has refused to exit the aircraft. In this event, no refund will be given for neither the skydive nor the dvd&photo package. Insurance: All jumpers are covered by the British Parachute Association third party Liability Insurance of 2 million. For personal accident cover, please call the Office or visit www.extremeplus.co.uk. BPA insurance: BPA membership is included in the jump price and is valid for one year. In the unfortunate event that a customer is unable to skydive on their chosen day, they have 12 months from the first time they registered at the airfield to return and jump. Otherwise a BPA renewal fee of 35 will be charged for a further 12 months extension. Drugs/Alcohol: The consumption of drugs and/or alcohol is strictly prohibited for anyone participating in skydiving activities. Important notice: If a Tandem Student has a very high Body Mass Index, females in particular, then please be advised that the airfield may, in the interests of safety, prefer to wait for slightly stronger wind conditions to ensure a slower landing. On nil wind days this may unfortunately mean that they are unable to jump and will have to be rescheduled. The same applies for elderly and customers with disabilities. If in doubt then please call the airfield to discuss further. MS Trust Booking Conditions Participants are to return all sponsorship forms issued by the MS Trust within 4 weeks of the event. No later than 4 weeks after your jump, send to the MS Trust all outstanding sponsorship money raised over and above the amount you will have already paid to the MS trust on the day of the event. You must make clear to sponsors that the cost of your skydive will be taken out of the sponsorship money you raise and to comply with any fundraising guidance on the paperwork issued to you. The MS Trust may publish or broadcast photographs or video of you participating in the event for the purpose of publicising the event and the work of the charity generally. * Please note: if the person jumping is under 18 years old then consent for photographs or video of the participant is also being given by the parent/ guardian signing the agreement form to be used in order to help publicise the event.
