Tuesday 17 December 2013 Thurrock Disability Partnership Board Anne s Update /2 Health Thurrock Learning Disability Health Assessment NHS Self Assessment Red Yellow Green to show how well Thurrock is doing was done over a year ago. There is an easy read version I am still not sure what Thurrocks action plan is. When: 7 November 2013 HEALTH JOINT HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE ASSESSMENT learning differences people s experiences good and bad. We attended a workshop at the Culver Centre I am not sure how this information we gave will be used. When: Thursday, 24 October 2013 NHS ENGLAND LISTENING EVENT currently developing a national primary care strategic framework. During the presentation I put my hand up to mention Annual Health Checks, Sunny did the same at his table. It seemed that we were outnumbered by professionals and people did not want to hear about health checks. Thursday 14 November 2013 Basildon Hospital Safeguarding Lead Nurse Sarah Pope, and Jemma Sharples who is the Advisor Learning Disabilities Nurse at Basildon Hospital. Both nurses did a visit to, we have agreed to work together in partnership. They talked about wanting to improve the hospital passport document we have said we will help with this. In the agenda setting I have suggested that both nurses come to Thurrock Disability Partnership Board Health Agenda item 2

Thameside Complex Directors discussion Meetings are on Wednesday mornings. RECRUITMENT DAY When: Wednesday 25 September 2013 once again we took part in Speed Interviews Social workers, Social work team managers and Support planners. We used the 6 standards on how we wanted to be treated by professionals that the Thurrock Coalition had come up with and that Thurrock Council now use in their training standards. People were tested against these standards. Three of the social workers that were appointed have already come to see we are pleased to see that the people who can answer the questions we set well are the same ones who got the jobs. 4

Thurrock CVS/Council Asset Based Community Development and Community Builders (ABCD) These two workshops were very enlightening; I feel that the professionals that turned up only for one day missed out. The whole Country connects they don't know they are doing it. I am a community connector, so I am told! A follow up workshop took place at the Grays fire station. When: Tuesday 5 November 2013 COMPACT-Thurrock CVS/Council Asset Based Community Development and Community Builders SPEAKER Jim Diers Where:The Beehive, Community Hall West Street, Grays RM17 6XP The voice (Cormack) talks to the community and engages with his stories. The American seems to talk to Thurrock Council, saying what needs to be done by the Community. I felt it was a big task for the volunteers. The voice does it in a way that you are willing to be a connector because it seems to work. Inclusion East Quality Checking Training Stanstead Anne s Feedback Friday 23.08.13 The slides from our August Training day, and also the Quality of Life Standards, which have now been published by Changing Our Lives. An email was sent to me on 16 October 2013 by Jo Hough of Inclusive East. They have established quality of life standards that can be used throughout the region.. 5
