Introduction The Edinburgh Healthcare NHS Trust began operating in April 1994, alongside five other Trusts in Lothian. Hospitals included were the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Gogarburn Hospital, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Corstorphine Hospital, Southfield Hospital and the Northern General Hospital. The Trust was the largest provider of Priority and Community Health Services in Lothian. Services included community nursing and therapy services, adult mental health, adolescent psychiatry, AIDS/HIV and drugs services, rehabilitation medicine, community dental services, family planning and well woman services, breast screening, learning disabilities and care of the elderly services. In March 1999 it was formally closed and was succeeded by the Lothian Primary Care NHS Trust. This collection contains records relating specifically to the Royal Edinurgh Hospital.
