DOCUMENT A/ASD PROGRAM OPTIONS (KEEP F YOUR RECDS) Please read through these options to determine which one matches your intention, and then, complete and return Document B/ASD Certificate/Licensure Declaration Form to Hamline. OPTION - ASD CERTIFICATE ONLY (NO LICENSE): You intend to complete the remaining requirements to earn your certificate in ASD. Effective Fall 03, the ASD Certificate Program will have new course numbers and requirements. The major change is that the new program requires credits to complete rather than 3 credits. See Document C/ASD Certificate Program Comparison Chart for a summary of these changes. If you started the ASD Certificate Program before Fall 03, Hamline will help you determine equivalencies, and will grant waivers on a case-by-case basis. Contact Molly Doran, Program Administrator with questions (gcs@hamline.edu or 65-53-067). OPTION - NEITHER PROGRAM: You do not intend to complete either the ASD Certificate or the ASD Licensure programs. For example, you may be taking ASD courses as elective credits for your Master s degree or are taking courses for personal reasons. Contact Molly Doran, Program Administrator with questions (gcs@hamline.edu or 65-53-067). OPTION 3-ASD LICENSURE TRANSITION: You intend to pursue the ASD license through a one-time transition option approved by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). In order to meet MDE deadlines, you will have until the end of the Fall 04 term to finish all of your Hamline coursework; otherwise, if you wish to pursue this license, you will be held to the new program requirements for incoming ASD Licensure students (see Option 4). To determine whether or not you qualify for the transition, visit the MDE website for more information. Please note that it is your responsibility to study the information on the website about qualifying for the transition program, and applying for the ASD license through MDE: http://education.state.mn.us/mdeprod/idcplg?idcservice=get_file&ddocname=047000&revisionselectionmeth od=latestreleased&rendition=primary Contact Mai Vang, Additional Licensure Academic Advisor, with questions (mvang7@hamline.edu or 65-53-697). OPTION 4- ASD LICENSURE PROGRAM: If you already hold a current Special Education license but did not meet all licensure-transition requirements (Option 3), you may complete a 0-credit additional licensure program to earn your ASD License through Hamline. This is a brand-new licensure program that was approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching on April 8, 03. Please see Document D/Course Grid for ASD Additional License Program for a summary of required coursework. Contact Mai Vang, Additional Licensure Academic Advisor, with questions (mvang7@hamline.edu or 65-53-697). ASD Certificate/Licensure Program Letter to Students (May 03) Page of 5
