DIFFERENT REPERTORIES when to use WHICH REPERTORY There are different forms of repertories and different ways that the Repertory can be used. Historically there were : Concordonce Repertories : Knerr Repertory Boenninghausen s Therapeutic Pocket Book Boger- Boenninghausen s Characteristics and Repertory Local repertories :Bells Diarhoea,Douglas Warts, Analytical Repertory Of Mind Hering Clinical Repertories : Clarkes Clinical Repertory, Boerickes Clinical Repertory Card repertories Concise Repertory by Phatak General repertories: Kent, The Complete, Synthetic, Synthesis, etc. Computer SOFTWARE Reference Works These are mostly out of use now due to computer programs. Now we have computer software repertories, which facilitate compiling and expanding sources of information. There are different forms of repertories and different ways that the Repertory can be used. 1
Concordonce Repertories : Knerr Repertory, William Gentry Based on HERING GUIDING SYMPTOMS Some very Interesting rubrics are there in Knerr Repertory are as follows: General; EMACIATION; mental condition; after disappointment in her affections (1): 2ph-ac. General; EMACIATION; brain; affection, with dry, flaccid skin(1): 3Hell. General; CONSTITUTION; fibre; lax, too frequent & copious menses(1): 3Thlaspi When to use Knerr Repertory This Repertory has a lot of Clinical rubrics, especially associated with The Age, Sex, Pathology. For example : General; EMACIATION; brain; affection, with dry, flaccid skin (1) : 3Hell. Emaciation when associated with Brain affection with dry Skin helleborus is the only remedy in this Rubric So This Repertory is very useful in Clinical Pathologies, especially in cases where Level of experience is Level 1 ( Name ), level 2 ( Fact ) Especially in cases where the MIND symptoms, Dreams, fears are not so prominent Hering Guiding Symptom However many of these Rubrics can be used only if you are well familiarized with this repertory and need to study this later with Another eminent feature of this Repertory is the symptom is Not converted into rubric it is Given Directly in the Prover language ( similar to Gentry repertory ) 2
Boenninghausen s Therapeutic Pocket Book Boger- Boenninghausen s Characteristics and Repertory Both Boeninghausens theraputic Pocket Book and then Boger Boeninghausen Repertory need to be understood along with its Main Philosophies doctrine of analogy, doctrine of concomitants and doctrine of generalization When to use Especially in cases having more MODALITIES, CONCOMITANTS, Pathological and Objective symptoms are more marked Different Types of Constitutions and Diathesis with Group of Remedies is available in various Chapters for example URIC ACID diathesis in agg and amel in general Chapter Some interesting Mind Rubrics are given in BBCR which are not given in Synthetic Repertory Alcoholism (67) : 4ARS., 4NUX-V., 3Aur., 3Bell., 3Calc., 3Cocc. Beseeching (1) : stram. Delicacy, feeling of (2) : ign., nux-v. Buffoonery (11) : 3Stram., 2bell., 2cic., 2verat., croc., cupr. Perplexity (1) : ign. Many of these Rubrics have been added in Complete Repertory, however technique of using it through BBCR is different. Especially useful section in this repertory is the FEVER chapters Fever totality is Unique and important Contribution where each stage is followed by time, agg, amel and concomitant Some very useful rubrics - Fever; PARTIAL HEAT; single parts, of (124): 4AML-N., 4ARS., 4BELL., 4BRY., 4MERC., 4PH-AC. Cold; SHIVERING; PARTIAL; of single parts(71): 4BELL., 4PULS., 4STAPH., 4VERAT., 3Ars., 3Caust. 3
Some very RARE rubrics like Infants affections of is given in BBCR Generalities; Infants; asphyxia (4): 4ANT-T., 3Op., 2chin., acon. Generalities; Infants; affections of, abdominal (14): 4CHAM., 4IP., 4RHEUM, 3Bor., 3Cina, 2acon. Generalities; Infants; indigestion, acute (5): 4IP., 3Aeth., 3Nux-v., 3Puls., chin. Local Repertories : Bells Diarrhoea,Douglas Warts, Analytical Repertory Of Mind Hering Many of these repertories have been added to the COMPLETE REPERTORIES symptoms. However, the rubrics and Symptoms given in these repertories have been given in a different way, which means that the rubrics have a fewer remedies, so the Remedies more known for those Rubrics are Given, in the recent repertories. there are so many remedies that that we may not come to know the remedies given through the Local repertoires. Clinical Repertories : Clarke s Clinical Repertory, Boerickes Clinical Repertory Clarke Repertory - Has given very few remedies in the Clinical rubrics For example Clinical; Adhesions (1): thiosin. A section of Its Repertory has The CAUSATION chapter For example Causes; Electric; Shock (1) : morph. Causes; Wisdom teeth, cutting (2) : cheir., mag-c. BOERICKEs Repertory - Also has some interesting Rubrics Circulation; ARTERIES, AORTA; Rupture of artery (31) : 2acon., 2arn., 2bell., 2glon., 2lach., 2laur. Circulation; ARTERIES, AORTA; Atheroma of arteries (35) : 2am-i., 2ars-i., 2aur-i., 2bar-c., 2glon., 2kali-i. The main idea of this clinical repertories is that very few remedies, especially main remedies are Given in Clinical Rubrics, especially, the ones known for that pathology 4
Concise Repertory by Phatak The main idea of Phatak is To GENERALISE the Local Symptom it is based on Boger and Boeninghausens principles Few salient features Locations : Specific locations are available For example a patient has an obstruction only at duodenum PHATAK REPERTORY; DUODENUM, Affections,of; obstruction, of(1): calc-f. A person develops a eruption, only between the fingers PHATAK REPERTORY; FINGERS 7): am-m., lyc.,ran-b.,rhus-t., sil., sulph. Rare Rubrics like remedies which have speciafic affinity for orifices PHATAK REPERTORY; ORIFICES AFFECTIONS Of (20) : 3Nit-ac., 3Nux-v., 3Sulph., 2aesc., 2caust., 2merc. Special Mind Rubrics Some very interesting Mind rubrics not given in other repertories PHATAK REPERTORY; EXPRESS Herself cannot (1) : puls. PHATAK REPERTORY; EXTREME,GOES,to(4): bell., caust.,con.,valer. General Rubrics Generalities where the patient shows features of early old age, or chronic pathology, recurrent Infections PHATAK REPERTORY;OLD,AGE, SENILITY; early, premature(8): 2lyc., ambr., bar-c., berb., con., kali-c. PHATAK REPERTORY;CHRONICITY(17): 2alum., 2ars., 2calc., 2caust., 2con., 2lyc. PHATAK REPERTORY; RELAPSES, RECURRENCES, Attacks Recurrent (21): 2psor., acon., ars., bar-c., bar-m., bell. Pathological Generals There are many Pathological generals Given in this repertory which will be of use PHATAK REPERTORY; CICATRICES (12) : 2graph., 2merc., calc-f., caust., fl-ac., hyper. DEGENERATION HARDNESS Induration 5
Direction of Symptoms Even the Direction of symptoms especially which side, does it increase slowly, crosswise or diagonal PHATAK REPERTORY; DIRECTION OF SYMPTOMS ALTERNATING; side, lain on, go to (12): 3Puls., 2ars., 2bry., 2ph-ac., calc., hep. PHATAK REPERTORY; DIRECTION OF SYMPTOMS ALTERNATING; here and there (28): 3Cocc., 3Ign., 2am-c., 2sulph., 2thuj., 2valer. PHATAK REPERTORY; DIRECTION OF SYMPTOMS ALTERNATING; crosswise, across (16) : 2bell., 2chel., 2chin., 2lac-c., 2sil., 2sulph. When to use It is a special pocket Repertory, where it is given in Alphabetical form Especially where Characteristic symptom is not available, so often we have to generalize the Local symptom. Suppose a patient says, I have this pain in ankle, better by rubbing We may have not have this rubric in Bigger repertories, so we may have to generalize this By taking the rubrics PHATAK REPERTORY; RUBBING,Stroking; amel (23) : PHATAK REPERTORY; ANKLES (8) So we can generalize the Local Symptoms One of the Things about Phatak Repertory is, we need to familiarize ourselves with the repertory to use it General Repertories Kent Repertory is basically based on Jahrs Repertory and LEE Repertory Most of The recent repertories are Built on this philosophy including Synthetic Repertory, Synthesis and COMPLETE Repertories. So what we saw as the as the different Features have been added in the recent COMPLETE REPERTORIES When to use Generally this is the repertory we use, when we have Characteristic Symptoms available, either The physical, mind, dreams, physical Generals sweat, craving, aversion. etc. 6
Computer SOFTWARE Reference Works The Software is one of the revolutionary form of Instrument for the Homeopaths, as it Broadens the Horizons. It has 2 Sections. 1 THE REPETORY The Software repertory has a few salient features Readily gives the Cross references Combine rubrics is easier We easily get a Repertory Sheet The Author - who has suggested the Marks for the remedy is Readily available 2 REFERENCE WORKS This is a huge Advancement for homeopathy as it has in it all the different repertories + the different Solved cases + provings symptoms which may not have been added in the Repertories + All the materia medicas + especially The recent Materia medica and new provings 7
for example a patient has a symptom metrorhagia with excessive thirst now this symptom is unavailable in the repertory however, if we use the REF WORKS, a search engine Metrorhagia within four words of thirst (3): 3Acet-ac., cham., plat. We get 3 remedies, on studying the references : Phatak MM Acetic ACID Metrorrhagia, with great thirst; after parturition. Threatening abscess of the breast. Milk impoverished, bluish, sour; suckling droop lose flesh, get marasmus. 8
So we can get through the repertory and Come to very exact proving Symptoms through the references works Many of the rubrics, are often found, through the Reverse repertory or repertory Extractions, in this case In this case of Cantharis, when studying this case in retrospect Then a few Symptoms of the case of cantharis was found in Allen s Repertory, some in Complete Repertory had found the rubrics in Allen s Repertory, after searching through the Reference Works. 9
