SOLE FUNDAMENTALS! MODULE 6: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER Lesson 1 Reflexology Routines! Quick Review, Core Practice Routine, Tweaking, Mini Routines!
Module 6: Putting It All Together Core Reflexology Routine, Tweaking, and Mini Routines Practicing on Others Chinese Reflexology for Children What to Expect: Changes Over Time Next Level Learning
Before We Begin The information in this workshop is for educational purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for proper medical advice or treatment. Use common sense. If you or a loved one is sick, see a doctor.
Before You Begin If you have not already done so, watch the guidelines and techniques for practicing Chinese Reflexology in Lesson 2 of Module 1. Do not practice Chinese Reflexology unless you have watched Lesson 2 of Module 1.
CORE PRACTICE ROUTINES
Practicing Your Points Massage twice a week Left foot, then right foot Excretory System + Adrenal Gland first Inside edge Sole Outside edge Top
Excretory System + Adrenal Kidney (30 to 60 seconds) Adrenal Gland (15 seconds) Bladder (30 seconds) Sole of Foot Sinus (15 to 30 seconds) Brain (30 seconds) Pituitary Gland (15 seconds) Temporal Area (30 seconds) Lung (30 to 60 seconds) Solar Plexus (15 seconds) Stomach, Pancreas, Duodenum (15 to 30 seconds) Sole of Foot (continued) Left: Heart (30 seconds) Left: Spleen (30 to 60 seconds) Right: Liver (15 to 30 seconds) Right: Gall Bladder (15 to 30 seconds) Outside Edge Knee (15 to 30 seconds) Top of Foot Throat (30 seconds) Lymphatic Drainage (30 strokes) Upper and Lower Lymph Nodes (15 strokes)
Two Core Routines Divide basic routine into two core routines Takes less time to practice Lets you rest hands and fingers Easier to practice More likely to practice regularly
Core Routine #1 Kidney (30 to 60 seconds) Adrenal Gland (15 seconds) Bladder (30 seconds) Temporal Area (30 seconds) Lung (30 to 60 seconds) Solar Plexus (15 seconds) Left: Heart (30 seconds) Left: Spleen (30 to 60 seconds) Throat (30 seconds) Lymphatic Drainage (30 strokes) Upper and Lower Lymph Nodes (15 strokes)
Core Routine #2 Kidney (30 to 60 seconds) Bladder (30 seconds) Sinus (15 to 30 seconds) Brain (30 seconds) Pituitary Gland Stomach, Pancreas, Duodenum (15 to 30 seconds) Right: Liver (15 to 30 seconds) Right: Gall Bladder (15 to 30 seconds) Knee (15 to 30 seconds) Upper and Lower Lymph Nodes (15 strokes)
For a Busy Lifestyle Practice one routine every other day (equivalent to practicing twice a week) Sunday: Routine #1 Monday: Rest Tuesday: Routine #2 Wednesday: Rest Thursday: Routine #1 Friday: Rest Saturday: Routine #2
TWEAKING YOUR ROUTINE
Increasing Massage Time If you can answer YES to both of these questions, then you can add extra time. 1. Have you been practicing regularly twice a week for six weeks in a row? 2. Are you free from detox symptoms and side effects?
Which Points? Pick top 5 sensitive points from Track Your Progress If more than 5, choose TCM primary meridians If more than 5 TCM meridians, prioritize as follows: 1. Kidney 2. Bladder 3. Spleen 4. Liver 5. Lung 6. Stomach (plus pancreas and duodenum) 7. Heart 8. Gall Bladder
How to Add Extra Time Add 15 seconds, check how you are feeling that day and next If you feel fine, add 15 seconds next time you massage Use lubricant for increased time to reduce friction Can increase time up to a maximum of 3 minutes for a point Do not add extra time for more than 5 points in total (of all 21 points)
How to Add Extra Time 1 to 3 minutes is a long time to massage, so you can practice the here and there technique Massage sensitive points here and there throughout the day Be easy and relaxed in your approach Tune in to your body and pay attention to your feet
How to Add Extra Time As points become less sensitive, reduce massage time back to recommended massage time Move on to next most sensitive point on Track Your Progress chart Have a rotation of a maximum of 5 points that get extra massage
MINI ROUTINES
Mini Routines Contain only a few points Use for short-term, mild, or temporary health conditions Example: hand points for temporary constipation Others: cold recovery and prevention, sore throat, brain boost, energy boost, stress relief, stomach bug, indigestion, detox, headache, insomnia, knee pain, seasonal allergy symptoms
How to Use Mini Routines Many mini routines can be used in addition to the core routine, but some may be exclusive (resume regular routine after you feel better) Choose ONE to massage ONCE per day unless otherwise directed If there are duplicate points, check which routine has the longest time specified, and massage the point for that length of time
1. Cold Recovery and Prevention Massage points four times a day until better: Lung, 60 seconds Spleen, 30 to 60 seconds Sinus, 30 seconds Throat/tonsil*, 30 seconds Throat, 20 to 30 seconds Lymphatic drainage, 30 strokes Practice exclusively; resume core routine after *Find this point at:
2. Sore Throat Massage every hour for four to six hours: Throat, 60 seconds Throat/tonsil*, 60 seconds Practice exclusively; resume core routine after *Find this point at:
3. Brain Boost Massage daily: Brain, 60 seconds Temporal area, 30 seconds Kidney, 60 seconds
4. Energy Boost Massage daily: Kidney, 60 seconds Adrenal, 15 seconds Spleen, 30 seconds Lung, 30 seconds
5. Stomach Bug Massage four times a day until better: Stomach, Pancreas, Duodenum, 30 seconds Spleen, 60 seconds Kidney, 60 seconds Practice exclusively; resume core routine after

Temporal area, 60 seconds Liver 3*, 60 seconds Liver, 30 seconds (only if you don t get detox symptoms) Large Intestine 4*, 60 seconds Gall Bladder 41*, 30 to 60 seconds Face*, 30 to 60 seconds Practice exclusively; resume core routine after *Find these points at:
9. Insomnia Massage before sleep, or upon waking in the middle of the night (can also massage daily): Kidney, 60 seconds Heart, 20 seconds Spleen, 30 seconds Liver 2*, 60 seconds Heart 7*, 60 seconds *Find these points at:

Module 6, Lesson 1 Summary Core Practice Routines Tweaking Your Routine When and how to add extra massage time Mini Reflexology Routines Next Lesson 2: Sharing the Love
SOLE FUNDAMENTALS! MODULE 6: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER Lesson 2 Sharing the Love! Practicing on Others, Reflexology for Children!
PRACTICING ON OTHERS
Before You Begin If you have not already done so, watch the guidelines and techniques for practicing Chinese Reflexology in Lesson 2 of Module 1. Do not practice the techniques in this video unless you have watched Lesson 2 of Module 1.
Do Not Practice on Someone if They Are Pregnant Have a heart condition Compromised immune system Proceed conservatively for diabetes or chronic condition Less is better If not sure, have them ask doctor if it is okay for them to get reflexology
Practicing on Family and Close Friends Make sure they are comfortable Seated on couch with legs raised on a footrest or ottoman Cover with a towel to prevent lubricant from getting on footrest OR lying in bed/massage table with foot elevated on pillow and bolster under knees Soles of feet positioned at edge of whatever is supporting their feet
Practicing on Family and Close Friends Make sure YOU are comfortable Seat yourself so that you are level or slightly lower than their feet so that your arms are relaxed Ideally, elbows are at a 90-degree angle wrists are straight Switch hands when switching feet To increase pressure, lean in with body Practice on yourself regularly Be calm and grounded
Practicing on Family and Close Friends Home video of me at home practicing on my husband
Practicing as a Calling Reflexology falls under the category of body work Need to be licensed to practice massage in your state/municipality/country Must meet requirements (e.g. 500 hours of study at accredited school in California) for massage and business (e.g. get applicable business licenses, insurance)
If You re Already a Licensed Healer Chinese Reflexology is complementary with most healing modalities Balancing energy meridians supports the body s natural healing process Kidney point is most beneficial Mini routines are also helpful Caution for areas that hold toxins such as Liver, Gall Bladder, Stomach, pancreas, duodenum, also depends on client Adapt based on individual and your wisdom and experience
Protecting Your Qi Don t practice if you are not feeling 100% Cultivate strong qi and Kidney Jing within yourself (meditation, connecting with nature) Imagine feet are grounded, drawing energy from heaven and earth to flow through you, not from you
Protecting Your Qi Wash hands afterwards (water is symbolically cleansing) Imagine the other person s negative or imbalance qi being washed away or directed into earth to be neutralized Envision cleansing and grounding energy through your body after session
Let Go of Attachment Let go of attachment to the outcome You don t do the healing, they do Other person must choose to heal May have resistance to change, attachment to condition, lack of will to live Only they can make the choice to change Look after yourself so that you can be an example to inspire them
REFLEXOLOGY FOR CHILDREN

Reflexology for Children Symptoms change quickly in children Reflexology is not a substitute for medical care If sick, take your child to see doctor Use reflexology in tandem with prescribed treatment Children tend to respond very well to energy healing
5 Golden Rules 1. Practice on yourself first 2. Explain what you are doing 3. Ask permission 4. Get them accustomed to foot rubs BEFORE you need to rub their feet 5. Listen to feedback. Less is more!
Reflexology for Children Pressure Start off slowly and gently If it tickles, press more firmly and move more slowly Baby pressure to slide a dime on a table Under 1, tuina may be more effective 3-yr old pressure to rub out permanent marker from hands Can increase pressure with age of child
Module 6, Lesson 2 Summary Practicing on Others Family and close friends Practicing as a calling Tips for licensed healers Protecting your qi Chinese Reflexology for Children 5 Golden Rules Next Lesson 3: What s Next?
SOLE FUNDAMENTALS! MODULE 5: LETTING GO AND EMBRACING CHANGE Lesson 3 What s Next?! What to Expect, Key Takeaways, Next Level Learning!
WHAT TO EXPECT
What to Expect Immediate Changes Increase in the flow of qi and blood to the feet and through your body s energy meridians Try this experiment: 1. Massage left foot 2. Compare to right foot before you massage it 3. Press soles together and do a visual inspection 4. Left foot will be warmer and pinker
What to Expect 3 to 4 Weeks After massaging all points regularly, body is balancing more holistically Points start to feel less sensitive; no more screaming; may wonder if you are getting used to it Lasting changes and improvement in qi and blood flow Strengthening of qi in energy meridians Long-standing energy disharmonies are starting to turn around, blocks beginning to clear
What to Expect 6 to 8 Weeks Points are measurably less sensitive (e.g. 1 to 2 reduction on sensitivity scale) Not all points will change the same way, can be variation, what matters is downward trend Energy healing is now shifting to physical healing Subtle changes in physical body Shows up differently for everyone
What If Your Sensitivity Levels Don t Change? Points change at different rates Is this a temporary thing? Have you changed technique? Are you massaging regularly? Does root of qi disharmony still exist? Lifestyle? Emotional and mental roots? Body may need to stop current trajectory before turning things around
Looking Forward: Early Signs of Change Decrease in point sensitivity can be measured Unusual improvements Feeling better, outlook shifting More good days, fewer bad days Better sleep, more energy, feeling lighter Improvements in digestion, especially elimination
Trust Your Body s Innate Wisdom Everybody s body is different Body has its own perfect timetable for healing Body s natural state is balance Ship is turning around You ve just begun and you re doing amazing
Celebrate Your Successes Completed Sole Fundamentals Learned more about how body works, and relationship between thoughts and qi You re hearing body s messages Mapped out energy in your body Practicing regularly If you feel like you re getting better, you are getting better
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Module 1: Clearing and Recharging Everything is yin or yang, or both Look back at your intentions and celebrate your growth Excretory System: Kidney is the most powerful point you learned, massage it Lymphatic drainage point reminds you to move your body and have fun moving
Module 2: Harmonizing the Heart and Mind To bring your body back into balance, you need to take a balanced approach Strengthen the Heart to balance the mind Your body becomes your thoughts. What you think and feel creates your physical state of being. Transform Your Attachment: continue giving yourself the benefit that you seek
Module 3: Nourishing the Body Spleen is most important organ and meridian for strong digestion Stop worrying so much! Grow your belief because belief turns thought into action Be aware of negativity directed at body, and practice your stepping stone affirmations: it is not entirely impossible Send feelings of love to your body
Module 4: Restoring Balance Endocrine system: adrenal gland point will tell you to chill out Liver is most helpful for ensuring smooth flow of qi; don t stress out TCM diet: eat a variety of foods in a relaxed and mindful manner True balance is the resilience to fluctuate within a healthy range Find the fun, remember to play
Module 5: Letting Go and Embracing Change Respiratory system: throat point is about expressing your emotions Let go of negative emotions: Face It, Erase It or Replace It; you ll always experience negative emotions and that s okay Embrace setbacks as part of your journey and they will pass more quickly and more easily Got constipation? Massage your hand
Module 6: Putting It All Together Practice points twice a week: two core routines every other day, or all points twice a week Tweaking: add 15 seconds if practicing regularly and you feel fine; no more than 3 minutes per point for up to 5 points Protect your own qi For kids, make it enjoyable experience Trust your body s innate wisdom
Sole Fundamentals Key Takeaways Massage your points regularly Some reflexology is better than no reflexology; rub your Kidney point, or do the here and there technique Listen to your heart and love your body Have fun, move your body, and play You are healing, trust your body
