Methods Selected 76 cases of patients with waist- induced knee pain in our hospital as study objects according to the randomized one- blind control method and divided them into two groups randomly 38 cases in each group. The treatment group received spine correction and waist adjustment of Lin s bone setting and massage therapy in Lingnan area while the control group received traditional manipulation of knee adjustment. Analyzed and compared the curative effect in both groups. Results Compared total scores of articular resting pain articular active pain tenderness swelling morning stiffness walking ability and the index of severity for osteoarthritis of the knee (ISOA) in the treatment group with those in the control group before and after treatment there being no significance in differences (P >0.05). The comparison of articular resting pain in the treatment group before and after treatment showed no significance in the difference (P>0.05). Total scores of articular active pain tenderness swelling morning stiffness walking ability and ISOA score were decreased differences being significant (P<0.01). No significant difference was found in the comparison of articular resting pain before and after treatment in the treatment group(p>0.05). Total scores of articular active pain tenderness swelling morning stiffness and ISOA score displayed significance in the differences (P <0.01). There was significant difference in the comparison of walking ability before and after treatment (P <0.05). Comparing with those before treatment total scores of articular resting pain articular active pain tenderness swelling morning stiffness walking ability and ISOA score were declined differences all being significant (P <0.01) which indicated that two different therapies were both effective after treatment. Apart from articular resting pain the improvements of articular active pain tenderness swelling morning

2 stiffness walking ability and ISOA score in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group. In the treatment group the total effective rate was higher than that in the control group differences being significant (P<0.01). The clinical effect in the treatment group was superior to that of the control group. No adverse reaction was found in both groups during treatment. Conclusion For patients with waist- induced knee pain the therapy of Lin s bone setting and massage therapy in Lingnan area and the traditional message therapy both have safe and feasible curative effect but the effect of the former therapy is better than that of the latter therapy.
