The pain affects everyone differently An X-ray can show your grade or stage of knee osteoarthritis, but your level of pain isn t necessarily connected to it. 6 CONSIDER SYNVISC-ONE Find out how patients responded in a Synvisc-One (hylan G-F 20) medical study. In order to determine how well Synvisc-One reduced osteoarthritis knee pain during five common activities (walking on a flat surface, going up stairs, resting during the night, sitting or lying down, and standing upright), a medical study* of 253 patients with knee osteoarthritis was conducted and the side effects were tracked. Osteoarthritis knee pain relief results with Synvisc-One The study showed that patients who received Synvisc-One had significantly less osteoarthritis knee pain over six months and felt significantly better than the saline control group. Most patients reported pain relief starting at week four. Side effects with Synvisc-One The most common side effects are pain, swelling, heat, redness and/or fluid build-up around the knee. In a medical study less than 6% of patients experienced these side effects, which were generally mild and did not last long. The types and frequencies of side effects were similar between the Synvisc-One and the saline control groups. No pain Lots of pain Walking / Standing Going up or down stairs At night while in bed Sitting Exercising Driving List the activities you avoid because of your osteoarthritis knee pain: Important Safety Information for Synvisc-One Before trying Synvisc-One, tell your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, tongue or throat, respiratory difficulty, rash, itching or hives to SYNVISC or any hyaluronan-based products. Allergic reactions, some which can be potentially severe, have been reported during the use of Synvisc-One. Should not be used in patients with an infected knee joint, skin disease or infection around the area where the injection will be given, and should be used with caution when there is swelling of the legs due to problems with venous stasis or lymphatic drainage. Synvisc-One is only for injection into the knee, performed by a doctor or other qualified health care professional. Synvisc-One has not been tested to show pain relief in joints other than the knee. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to products from birds such as feathers, eggs or poultry or if your leg is swollen or infected. Synvisc-One has not been tested in children ( 21years old), pregnant women or women who are nursing. You should tell your doctor if you think you are pregnant or if you are nursing a child. Talk to your doctor before resuming strenuous weightbearing activities after treatment. The side effects sometimes seen after Synvisc-One include (<2% each): pain, swelling, heat, redness, and/or fluid build-up in or around the knee.
