4 Research activity Urologic oncology and functional urology have been the major research interests of Prof. Giacomo Novara. Specifically, evaluation of prognostic factors in prostate, kidney, bladder, penile and upper tract cancers has been the major focus of most of his scientific work. Moreover, with regard to surgical issues, robotic surgery (especially application of robotics to prostate, kidney and bladder cancer treatments) has been the topic of several major publications, especially aiming at evaluating functional and patient reported outcomes Prof. Novara has been an active member of several national and international collaborations aiming to evaluate prognostic factors in kidney, bladder, upper tract and prostatic cancers. These have included the urologic departments of the most prestigious European and US centers.
