8 Acetaldehyde-binding products Acetium Lozenge Acetaldehyde is the most important carcinogen of cigarette smoke and decreasing the amount of acetaldehyde in tobacco smoke should be mandatory (WHO 2008) L-cysteine in Acetium Lozenge removes effectively carcinogenic acetaldehyde from the saliva during smoking Please note! Acetium Lozenge does not decrease other carcinogens or risks caused by smoking. Biohit recommends to stop smoking because of its health hazards. Acetium capsule The L-cysteine in Acetium capsules dissolves slowly into the gastric fluid, efficiently binding (neutralising) carcinogenic acetaldehyde in an achlorhydric stomach. This contributes to reduction of stomach and oesophageal cancer risk. The science behind the Acetium innovation is strong and there is a great demand for this product. A protein called gluten contained in rye, wheat and barley, causes an inflammatory reaction in the small intestine mucosa. The new test is an advanced version of Biohit s unique GastroPanel stomach health test. GastroPanel quick test differs from the current clinical test version by giving the results immediately during a single clinical appointment. The GastroPanel quick test saves costs and unnecessary clinical appointments as well as speeds up the referral to further examinations and eventual treatment, which significantly improves the patient safety. 19

21 Smoking intervention study The first, nearly two-year smoking intervention study by Biohit Oyj was completed in November According to the study, Acetium lozenge is a promising novel method to assist in smoking cessation. We have started a confirmatory smoking intervention trial in cooperation with research agency Kuulas Helsinki. The aim of the study is to confirm the promising results. If successful, the trial gives adequate power to confirm, that the Acetium lozenge is a breakthrough in the development of smoking intervention methods. 21

22 Trials for headache attack prevention In 2014 Biohit initiated two randomised, doubleblind trials, where the effect of Acetium capsule is assessed as a new method of prevention of migraine and cluster headaches. Both are multi-center trials progressing well in six centers around Finland. 22

23 In the beginning of 2016 we bought a share of Norwegian Genetic Analysis AS company Biohit Oyj bought 18% of Genetic Analysis AS Biohit Oyj obtained a right to sell Genetic Analysis AS s Dysbiosis Test globally under the Biohit brand and exclusively in Finland and in China.
