This accreditation, which is achieved by meeting 27 specific standards, shows that the Avera Breast Center provides the highest level of diagnosis and treatment for those undergoing breast cancer treatment and the best in prevention before a diagnosis. BICOE: The Avera Breast Center is also an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. 4 Live With Sophistication THE EARLIEST DETECTION FOR THE BEST OUTCOMES When it comes to diagnosing breast cancer, early detection is the key to the best outcomes. Understanding risk factors and having timely screenings are important to maintaining health and long-term quality of life. Available to patients at several convenient locations, our state-of-the-art imaging systems produce the clearest pictures available, allowing us to identify and treat breast cancer at its earliest and most curable stages. We offer both screening and diagnostic mammography services at our Prairie Center location with free valet parking and convenient extended Saturday screening hours. Also, offering screening services at two Avera Medical Group McGreevy locations, 7th Avenue and 69th & Western and digital mobile mammography. The Avera Breast Center was first in the region to offer full-field digital mammography, which provides a more enhanced and detailed image of the breast for greater effectiveness at early detection. The gentle cushion of the MammoPad which provides a softer, warmer surface between patient and the mammography unit makes our mammography services as comfortable as possible. When additional imaging of the breast is required, we offer BSGI (Breast Specific Gamma Imaging) and breast MRI utilizing advanced 3 Tesla MRI, which provides the clearest possible images available through today s technology. Our patients deserve the peace of mind that comes with knowing someone who can guide them on the road ahead. That s why Nancy Terveen, CNP, and Melissa Davis, RN, are available to serve as a knowledgeable, supportive guide prior to initial diagnosis through treatment and follow-up care. As one constant in their treatment, I am someone who can help answer questions or clarify information for the patient, said Terveen. Nancy and Melissa are a link between patients and their medical providers, offering education and support for decision making in every phase of treatment. They serve as an important part of patients support systems, supplying the confidence and strength that is beneficial in the healing process. As a breast health navigator, I hear from a lot of women who wonder if they re doing the right thing in selecting a treatment option, said Terveen.
