Resolving Back, Neck and Sciatica Pain Without Injections, Drugs or Surgery. Developed by Dr. Stephen Stokes BSc, DC, FIAMA Cypress Terrace Circle Unit 401 Fort Myers Fl (239)

HERE ARE THE FACTS ABOUT BACK PAIN Failed back surgery syndrome is seen in up to 40% of patients who undergo back surgery. It is characterized by intractable pain and varying degrees of functional incapacitation occurring after spine surgery. More risks include infection, nerve damage, deterioration of health and post operative complications. 1 Fewer than 5% of people with back pain are good candidates for surgery. 2 The spinal disc accounts for 85% of all cases of chronic spinal pain. The facet joints 15% and the sacroiliac joint less than 5%. 3 Our Program resolves 75% of all cases in 4 weeks and 85% in 8 weeks. In a 4 year follow up study those successful cases were still symptom free. 4, 5 References 1. In Project Briefs: Back Pain Patient Outcomes Assessment Team (BOAT). 3 ANGIOGENICS BACK, NECK AND SCIATICA PAIN RELIEF Western Medicine started in the 1200 s and based on the Greek system. It is designed to save lives not promote health. It is focused on removing symptoms at any cost with little regard for long term effects. Medications, injections and surgery are the main tools of the trade. Western medicine has a poor record of success in treating chronic, degenerative problems such as Back, Neck and Sciatica Pain. Only treating your symptoms is like only cutting the weed and not removing the root it will only grow back. The Angiogenics method of treatment is based on a different approach. It is designed to correct the damaged tissue(s) through the established mechanism of Angiogenesis: The process of growing new blood vessels in the human body. Angiogenic treatment applies a controlled stress to the vertebral blood vessels promoting them to branch. This increases the availability of vital fluids to the disc through the endplates.

THE FUNDAMENTALS Between the bones of your back are spinal discs. These are like shock absorbers that separate the bones and provide a cushion to allow movement. Through injury and the aging process the blood supply to these discs begins to die and as a result the disc starts to degenerate. Once injured these delicate blood vessels cannot be replace. Healthy Disc: Normal Blood Supply Through Vertebra Endplates Unhealthy Disc: Decreased Blood Supply Due To Damaged Vertebra Endplates. A healthy spinal disc has a mechanism for self healing, meaning herniations, bulges, degeneration and stenosis can heal naturally without drugs or surgery.6 Unhealthy discs will never heal. 6. Humzah MD, Soames RW: Human intervertebral disc: structure and function. Anat Rec 220: , 1988

DEGENERATION OF THE SPINAL DISC When the blood supply is decreased the spinal disc begins a journey of degeneration. As it collapses, the spine looses its range of movement and the delicate spinal nerves get compressed. Eventually we will see pain and dysfunction where ever these nerves go, such as into the arms (from the neck) and the legs (from the low back).

THE PURPOSE OF TREATMENT The purpose of treatment is to influence the body to grow new branches from existing blood vessels, thereby increasing the availability of nutrition to the degenerated, injured spinal discs. This natural process is called Angiogenesis and it is the fundamental way the body heals. 7, 8 Injured disc with damaged blood supply. Treated disc with new blood vessel growth feeding the injury. 7. 7 CASE STUDY: RESULTS OF TREATMENT By restoring proper nutrition to the spinal disc we are able to see several dramatic changes that have occurred. 1. The massive disc protrusion of L4/ L5 has retracted by 90% 2. The degenerated disc of L5 has regained its full height. 3. The lumbar lordosis (natural curve) has been restored. Available treatment for Back, Neck and Sciatica Pain. In many cases we can also help failed surgical case.
