An Assessment of Knowledge of Chikungunya Fever Among The Postgraduate Trainees, Medical Officers and Private General Practitioners of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Wah.. Ann. Pak. Inst. Med. Sci. 2017; 13(2): Funding Source: Nil Conflict of Interest: Nil Address of Correspondence Dr. Valeed Bin Mansoor valeed.93@gmail.com Introduction A B S T R A C T Objective: To assess the knowledge of chikungunya fever among postgraduate trainees, medical officers and private general practitioners. Study design: Descriptive cross-sectional study Duration: March 25th to April 26th, 2017 Methodology: A total of 282 doctors participated in this study from hospitals named PIMS Islamabad, Holy family hospital Rawalpindi, Benazir Bhutto hospital Rawalpindi and POF hospital Wah. Each question is scored 1 if responded correctly. A score of 10 and above will be labeled as adequate knowledge, a score from 6-9 is labelled as partial knowledge and a score of 5 and below is labeled as inadequate knowledge. The data was assessed by using SPSS v20. Results: 160 out of 282 (56.74%) doctors had adequate knowledge, 68 out of 282 (24.11%) had partial knowledge and 54 out of 282 (19.15%) had inadequate knowledge. There was no difference in the level of knowledge among males and females and p-value came out >.05. Conclusion: Although the level of awareness has improved a little bit from last decade but our results show that there is still much to be done to increase the awareness, knowledge and proper attitude towards the impending disease yet to hold its root in our country. This requires proper training at the undergraduate level, during house job and by holding regular workshops to improve the knowledge of a doctor and health of the society.
