2 Introduction One of the policies of Chevron and its partners is to create a favorable business climate among the communities where we operate. For this reason, we are a privileged social partner of the Angolan Government in the health sector. The engagement of Chevron Corporation and its affiliates in combating malaria began in 1994 in the province of Cabinda. Other areas of intervention in the health sector are: Safe blood transfusion (since 1992, in Cabinda) Combating Tuberculosis (since 2001, in Cabinda) Combating HIV (since 2003, in Cabinda) Reproductive health (since 2004, in Cabinda) Construction and rehabilitation of sanitation facilities (since 1998, in Cabinda, Luanda and Huila) 2

3 Community Program to Combat Malaria General objective Contribute to reducing the impact of malaria in the Republic of Angola and particularly in the province of Cabinda Specific objectives 1- Provision of mosquito nets impregnated with insecticides and awareness material in Cabinda and other provinces 2- Provision of additional microscopes and consumables for the diagnosis in the province of Cabinda 3- Contribute to the vector control through the provision of spraying equipment and related chemicals in Cabinda 3

Recycling of 40 Cabinda lab technicians in clinics of CABGOC Donation of $ 5,000,000 to the Global Fund for programs to combat malaria Community project for combating major diseases in the province of Malange, and construction of a centre of attention for the health of adolescents and young people in Huambo Province 5

10 Perspectives for the last 4 months of 2009 Provision of the following diagnostic methods to tackle the difficulties experienced in 8 health centers in the outskirts of Cabinda and 10 health posts along the coast of the same province: 12 Microscopes and 60,000 glass laminas. 30 Packs of cedar oil 1x100 ml 50 Cotton 1x500 GRS packets 50,000 Lancets 25,000 rapid tests Regarding prevention shall be the provision of: 40,000 mosquito nets to Cabinda and other provinces As regards the fight against the vector will be made to the provision of: Co-sponsored workshop on Entomology for approximately 45 health professionals from all the provinces to take place from 28 September to 17 October 2009 in Bengo Province. 12 Program to Combat Malaria in the Chevron / CABGOC In November 2005 it launched the A-B-C-D program of Malaria Objectives: Improve awareness about the risks of malaria within all the populations at risk Prevention of malaria cases among non-immune population (residents and their dependents and employees in the rotation visitors in service) Public awareness through posters, leaflets and video Orientation sessions on Malaria for all new employees, analysis and recommendation of appropriate chemoprophylaxis Reduction of transmission of malaria in the semi-immune population Mosquito nets for all employees and their dependants Educational sessions on malaria carried out in homes Provision of insect repellents Minimize the risk of potentially serious consequences of malaria through early diagnosis and effective treatment Malaria Hotline for employees 12

13 Program to Combat Malaria in the Chevron / CABGOC Overall, the rates of malaria continued to decline compared to previous years Awareness sessions were carried out, in which audiovisual and information leaflets were used 60,000 insecticide-treated curtains were acquired for windows and doors. Was intensified campaign to distribute treated nets in the local community We minimized the risk of contracting malaria, acute / fatal, through early diagnosis and treatment. Created a hotline for consultation on malaria for all employees. Medical Director SASBU became an observer member of the CCM 13
