Chris was part of the McCarthy s team that won Guildcare Pharmacy of the Year in He enjoys the unique challenges of working in a compounding pharmacy, as well as the opportunity to meet people in the course of conducting Home Medicines Reviews. After the dizzying highs of a premiership and the lows that have followed, Chris eagerly awaits the return to the halcyon days of 2010 when the Dragons reigned supreme. Once she had completed her degree, she eagerly returned back to Priceline Woden as an intern. To this day, Thanh has enjoyed a fulfilling career at Cooleman Court Pharmacy as a full time pharmacist. Thanh feels privileged to be a community pharmacist and appreciates the trust her patients place in her to accommodate their needs. Contributing to community health services is one of Thanh s passions. She has provided services through in store Easy Clinics, as well as attending Health Expos and community fairs. AVAILABLE IN STORE * Influenza (flu) is a highly contagious viral infection that spreads easily from person to person through coughing, sneezing and close contact. Unlike a cold, symptoms such as fever, sore throat and muscle aches develop suddenly with flu and last about a week. In some cases, severe illness and complications such as pneumonia and bronchitis can develop, which can result in hospitalisation and even death. The flu can also make some existing medical conditions worse. The flu virus can be especially dangerous for elderly people, pregnant women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and very young children, as well as for people with underlying medical conditions. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS I received a flu shot last year, do I still need to get one this year? You should get the flu shot every year because the flu virus is constantly changing. Every year, the flu vaccine changes to match the flu virus, so it protects against the flu strains which are most likely to be around during that winter. Is it safe for me to get the flu shot if I am pregnant? Yes. The flu vaccine can be safely given during any stage of pregnancy. Pregnant women are at increased risk of complications from the flu. Immunising against flu during pregnancy can not only protect women but help provide ongoing protection to a newborn baby for the first six months after birth. Can I catch the flu from a flu vaccination? There is no live virus in the flu shot, so you cannot get the flu from the vaccine. Is it safe for me as an adult to get the flu shot? Yes. All flu vaccines currently available in Australia are safe to use in adults. All vaccines in Australia must pass stringent safety testing before being approved for use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
