1 What do flu, whooping cough, measles, shingles and pneumonia have in common? 1 They re viruses that can make you very sick. 2 Vaccines can help prevent them. Protect yourself and those you care about. Get vaccinated at a network pharmacy near you. Ask your pharmacist which vaccines are right for you. Find out if your pharmacist can administer the recommended vaccinations. Many vaccinations are covered by your plan at participating retail pharmacies. Don t forget to present your member ID card to the pharmacist at the time of service! The following vaccines are available and can be administered by pharmacists at participating network pharmacies: Flu (seasonal influenza) Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis Hepatitis Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Meningitis Pneumonia Rabies Shingles/Zoster Travel Vaccines (typhoid, yellow fever, etc.) Childhood Vaccines (MMR, etc.) See other side for recommended adult vaccinations.
2 The vaccinations you need ALL adults should get vaccinated for 1 : Flu, every year. It s especially important for pregnant women, older adults and people with chronic health conditions. Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough). Adults should get a one-time dose of the Tdap vaccine. It s different from the tetanus vaccine (Td), which is given every 10 years. You may need additional vaccinations depending on your age 1 : Young adults not yet vaccinated need: Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine series (3 doses) if you are: Female age 26 or younger Male age 21 or younger Male age 26 or younger who has sex with men, who is immunocompromised or who has HIV Adults born in the U.S. in 1957 or after need: Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine 2 Adults should get at least one dose of MMR vaccine, unless they ve already gotten this vaccine or have immunity to measles, mumps and rubella Adults born in the U.S. in 1980 or after need: Varicella chickenpox vaccine 2 Adults should get 2 doses of chickenpox vaccine unless they ve already gotten both doses or have immunity to chickenpox Adults 60 years of age and older need: Zoster shingles vaccine 2 (1 dose) Adults 65 years of age and older need: Pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (1 dose) 1. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Accessed July 31, Live vaccines should not be given to people who have a very weakened immune system, including those with a CD4 count less than 200, or to pregnant women. Know the facts. 3 Find a Pharmacy that Offers Vaccines Before You Visit the Pharmacy Check with your plan sponsor about vaccine coverage and copayment information. Make sure the pharmacy you use is part of your Express Scripts participating pharmacy network. If you re not sure, use the Locate a Pharmacy feature to find out. Call the pharmacy to verify their current vaccination schedule, vaccine availability, and any age restrictions. When You Get to the Pharmacy Be sure to present your prescription member ID card at the time of service. Some of the pharmacies below may have an on-site clinic that offers vaccines. Be sure to get your vaccine from the pharmacist at the pharmacy, not from the clinic. Chain Pharmacies That Offer Vaccines Independent and regional pharmacies may not be listed below. 5 Member Frequently Asked Questions - Pharmacy Vaccination Program Q: Are there certain pharmacies that members must go to or can they go to any retail pharmacy to receive a vaccination? A: Plan sponsors and members will have access to many pharmacies, including most major chains. Non-Medicare members can log into Express-Scripts.com to see if your pharmacy is contracted in the network at the Find a Pharmacy that Offers Vaccines link, or members can call a Patient Care Advocate at the phone number listed on your prescription card. The full list of contracted pharmacies may also be available through your HR representative. Members should contact the pharmacy in advance to see if they are providing vaccinations, have any age restrictions, and verify hours available, etc., as not all pharmacies have a certified pharmacist who can administer vaccines. Q: Can members go to the MinuteClinic/The Little Clinic, etc. to receive their vaccine? A: NO. On-site clinics at pharmacies do not process vaccine claims through the pharmacy benefit. Since these clinics are not contracted with ESI, they only process vaccine claims on the medical benefit. PLEASE GO TO THE PHARMACIST TO GET YOUR VACCINE and be sure to present your Express Scripts member ID card. Q: Can all vaccines be administered in the retail pharmacy setting? A: Many vaccines can be administered in the retail pharmacy setting. However, every state has specific regulations regarding age restrictions and what vaccines are available through the pharmacist. Members should check with their local pharmacy for further clarification. Q: Is a physician Rx required for a pharmacy to dispense or administer a vaccine? A: This will vary by state and the retail pharmacies will be required to follow all state and federal regulations as it relates to the administration of vaccines. However, pharmacists in all 50 states are certified to administer/inject the flu vaccine without a prescription; age restrictions may apply. Contact your local pharmacy to determine if a physician Rx is required for your requested vaccine. Q: What vaccine products are included in the Retail Vaccination Program? A: Express Scripts plan sponsors can elect to include any or all of the following products: Influenza Pneumonia Herpes zoster (Zostavax) Hepatitis HPV Childhood Vaccines (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Poliomyelitis) Meningococcal Rabies Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis Travel vaccines/bioterrorism (typhoid, yellow fever, anthrax, etc.) Check with your HR representative to verify what vaccines are covered. Q: How much will my copay be? A: 2015 Express Scripts Holding Company. All Rights Reserved. 1
