The HBs uptake of flu vaccination is slightly lower than at the same point last season, for over 65s (1), and under 65s at risk (2). Neath Port Talbot have exceeded their uptake rates for the same point last year. Pregnant women uptake figures are low, but internal audits suggest much higher uptake Staff uptake, had been systematically increasing year on year but has started to plateau. It remains below WG Tier 1 target. However, a greater NUMBER of vaccines have been given this year (total staff). ABMU has achieved the greatest HB % increase in uptake of Fluenz by 2-4 year olds compared to 2013/14 (whilst 3 Health Boards uptake is less than their uptake last year). How do we compare with our peers? What are the main areas of risk? Currently lowest uptake of HB areas for WG Tier 1 targets in relation to 6 months 64yrs Considerable effort to raise uptake has had little impact on improvement of particularly measure 1 and at risk categories, sixth ranked Health Board for 65 years and older. measure 2 to date, suggesting other elements of the delivery system need to be examined Second highest HB area for uptake of school fluenz programme, have met the target and General Practice need stronger motivation and clearer information on their own rates to achieve better achieved 7.7% increase in uptake on last year s campaign. than last year's uptake rates. Investigations at national level on plugging the gap in primary care when school nursing not able to complete the school programme. All Health Visitors now tracking children up to school age who are late for vaccination to facilitate vaccination, including home vaccination where indicated. Engage children in improving their understanding of immunisation so they leave school fully immunised. The Healthy Schools and PreSchools Team is utilising existing communication mechanisms to share information with schools about relevant immunisations, including weekly ebulletins and training for teachers. In the coming year the team are developing work to facilitate preparation for consent giving, to support informed decision making; and help settings to develop a culture of readiness for school, readiness for work/university/travel/etc... in relation to immunisations. Focus on minimising queues for childhood immunisation appointments Working with relevant professionals provide leadership in promoting immunisation. How do we compare with our peers? ABMU HB uptake rates are above the Wales average for all vaccinations listed above What are the main areas of risk? Failing to address public concerns arising from adverse perception regarding immunisation. Primary care may struggle to cope generally or with volume and complexity of immunisation programmes. Inequalities in uptake by deprivation group or some other social characteristic may be masked by high overall uptake rates. 6 STAYING HEALTHY - I AM WELL INFORMED & SUPPORTED TO MANAGE MY OWN PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH Measure 1: % Welsh resident smokers make a quit attempt via Smoking Cessation Services Measure 2: % Welsh resident smokers who are Co validated as successfully quitting at 4 weeks Strategic Aim : Healthier Communities Strategic Change Programme: Changing for the Better: Staying Healthy Executive Lead : Sara Hayes IMTP Profile Target : WG Target : Current Movement : Period : Mar-15 (1) 5% (2) 40% (1) 5% and above (2) 40% and above Status : Worsening Current Trend: (monthly) How are we doing? In quarters 1 and 2 of 2014/15 the only service contributing to the Tier 1 target was Stop Smoking Wales (SSW). For these quarters, ABM University Health Board was slightly below the Welsh average performance for the % of smokers attempting to quit smoking through smoking cessation services. For 2014/15 SSW has contributed 1.6% of the 5% target for treated smokers. In 2014/15, SSW has failed to meet measure 2 of the target (40% of treated smokers are CO validated quitters at 4-weeks) on four occasions. Benchmark Attempts Co Validated What actions are we taking? 29 Level 3 pharmacy smoking cessations schemes have been established across ABM localities. A further 11 will be live by May The 'Start Here' Level 3 marketing campaign continues. Data collection for Level 3 performance has commenced and will contribute to future Tier 1 performance reports. SSW mobile units have visited two hospital sites in March 2015 and the Health Board's hospital based service is due to go live in June Referral pathways are being established in respiratory, cardiovascular and diabetic medicine. A Smoke-free Hospitals working group has been established and draft action plan produced. Additional SSW capacity has been identified until June 2015 to work with GP practices who have identified smoking cessation in their cluster area plans. This will include training in brief interventions and awareness raising. A revised ABMU HB smoking cessation pathway has been uploaded on the GP Portal and COIN system. A referral pathway for dentists and opticians has been established. Work continues with midwifery in increasing CO monitoring compliance and referral of pregnant smokers to smoking cessation services. How do we compare with our peers? What are the main areas of risk? Implementation in all 40 Level 3 pharmacies and current uptake of those level 3 pharmacies that are live. Distribution of 'Start Here' marketing materials has been delayed.
