Artie's Bollywood Bistro Boston Market Booth dividers low, but overall could still hear everyone at my table. Weather permitting, ask to sit outside. There is some street traffic noise, but it is not too distracting. Very friendly and quiet Cafe Oggi McLean Cantina D'Italia Cheng's Chinese Cantina D' Italia I went to try to evaluate whether a Pocket Talker with a neck loop and my hearing aids in the Telecoil Mode would improve my restaurant experience. To my surprise, my hearing aids picked very loud static although, according to my wife, the restaurant was quiet. I'm sure it was that they changed the side lighting from incandescent to energy saving flourescent bulbs. I couldn't use the Pocket Talker and just tried to hear normally with my hearing aids. It was pretty quiet. But the food was very good, even if I could only hear about 1/2 the convversation. My wife understands. I always ask for a booth so they do it automatically now. Carpet helps too and there is no loud background music.

Cheescake Factory It was so dark that you barely see your hand in fornt of your face. Coastal Flats Clyde's Ashburn Clyde's Tyson's Corner Clyde's Tyson's Corner Delia's Famous Daves Alexandria Woodbridge IHOP Leesburg Il Fornaio Reston I would diner there as long as I am with people I can lipread or who know sign language; the food is excellent, the staff very friendly, service great. Be sure to ask for one of the smaller rooms which are much quieter than the big dining room and the bar area. The manager and his staff are very helpful Ask for one of the two booths. It is a bit quieter although surrounded by a wall of mirrors. It was a semi-booth in open space. Not quiet but not so loud I had to yell. I don't remember what was on the walls - too busy reading lips! Music was very loud and diners had to speak loudly to make themselves heard above the din. It was all day Wednesday Senior citizens buy one get one free day. Good food and service, but even with few diners at the time, the noise level is very high

Jaipur Kilroy's Springfield Kobe Leesburg Mild Friends and I have gone to Jaipur for years. has never been a challenge for me there -- unlike most restaurants. I do, of course, position myself so I am closer to my dining partner(s) than to people at other tables. This is a wonderful restaurant for those of who are hard of hearing and definitely the best for those of us who love Indian food. LaTasca Alexandria La Tasca has great service and hospitatlity and very friendly staff. The hard surfaces (floor, walls, ceiling) make for a noisy enviornment as the restaurant fills up Le Cote D'Or Café Arlington Separate rooms which helps abate the noise Mike's American Grill Purcellville Family Springfield Purcellville Best breakfast in town. Not a fancy place, but a friendly atomosphere.

Olive Garden Omia's Pub and Grille Pines of Florence Red, Hot and Blue Mild Herndon Arlington Leesburg Red Robin Glen Allen Red Robin Chantilly Ruby Tuesday Ruby Tuesday Food and service very good. Music was a little loud but I did not ask them to turn it down. Having the tables right on top of other diners did not help either. Lots of families and little kids. Noisy enviornment. Had to really concentrate on faces to stay in the conversation. kids running all over the place and screaming/yelling. Parents need to control their kids

Sequoia Sweetwater Tavern Washington DC Falls Church Nice view with the floor to ceiling windows but terrible acoustics. Lots of hard surfaces and a second floor bar that overlooks the dining area. Conversation was possible only because restaurant wasn't full. This restaurant has great food but it is way too noisy! I will only eat here if my family wants to. If we do, I have to turn my hearing aids off and lip read. I also have paper and pen if I need someone to write down what they are saying if I can not lip read them. Tara Thai Taste of Burma Falls Church Poor acoustics but great food Small family restaurant with good sound absorbing furniture. Great food. Xuan Saigon Leesburg Good food, no wait, quiet Yoko Sushi Small restaurant. Easy listening. Zengo Washington DC Good food but noise level after 9pm is high but tolerable - must use lipreading & sign language
