1 T TH BE TOLD Your SMILE is a TREAT! Did You Know? Halloween is the biggest candy-selling holiday, followed by Christmas, Easter, and Valentine s Day. Only 43% of dentists give out candy to trick-ortreaters! Candies that melt such as chocolate are better than sticky or chewy ones, as your saliva can wash them away from your teeth and prevent buildup. Many candies have more than 15 ingredients, with many of them being different types of sugars. 600,000,000 lbs. of candy are bought for Halloween in the U.S.
2 WELCOME DR. CATHERINE ZHOU I was born and raised in China. I graduated as a dentist from West China School of Stomatology in After moving to the U.S., I attended Temple University Dental School and graduated Summa Cum Laude. After dental school I completed a one-year advanced education in general dentistry residency at Temple University. I always believe in trying to provide a comfortable and pleasant dental experience for my patients through a gentle and compassionate approach. In addition to dentistry, I enjoy trying new restaurants with my husband, photography, fitness, and spoiling my puppy, Rocky. I speak both English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).

4 Ingredients: Instructions: Bewitching good grub... Spider Web Taco Dip Servings: 8-10 Time: 25mins Difficulty: easy 1 can red enchilada sauce 1 can petite diced tomatoes with green chilis 1 can chili beans in mild chili sauce 1 can black beans drained and rinsed 1 can corn, drained 1 and 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts 2 cups chicken stock or chicken broth 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese very soft 1 small spider decoration for a topper Seasonings: 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 3/4 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon seasoned salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 and 1/2 tablespoons chili powder Toppings: sour cream, freshly grated cheddar cheese, avocado, fresh lime, and fresh cilantro 1) Stir together the refried beans, taco seasoning and taco sauce; warm the beans up. 2) Spread beans in the bottom of a glass pie plate. 3) Mash the avocado and stir together with the lime juice, salt and garlic powder. 4) Spread guacamole over the top of the beans. 5) Mix sour cream with enough milk to make it thin and easy to come out of the squirt bottle. 6) Draw spider web on the top of the guacamole with the sour cream. 7) Sprinkle olives, cheese, tomato and green onion around the edges. 8) Place spider in the center for decoration. 9) Serve taco dip with warm tortilla chips.
5 12 Tips for a Healthy Halloween 1) Time it right: Eat your sweet treats with meals or shortly after. Saliva production increases during meals so it helps rinse away food particles. 2) Stay away from sweet snacks: Snacking can increase your risk of cavities, and grabbing sweet treats from the candy bowl is double the trouble! 3) Choose candy carefully: Avoid hard and sticky candy and reach for candies like chocolate that melts faster and spends less time stuck to your teeth, causing more risk for tooth decay. 4) Have a plan: Keeping your candy around is tempting, but your teeth will thank you if you limit your stash. Pick our your favorites and then donate the rest. 5) Drink more water: drinking fluoridated water can help prevent tooth decay. 6) Maintain a healthy diet: The foods you choose as fuel and how often you fill up affect your general health, teeth and gums. 7) Stay away from sugary beverages: This includes pop, sports drinks, and flavored waters. When teeth come in frequent contact with beverages that contain sugar, the risk of tooth decay increases! 8) Brush 2x a day! 9) Floss em : Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth and under the gum line- where your toothbrush can t reach! 10) Visit your dentist: Regular visits help prevent problems from occuring and catch those that do occur early, when they are easy to treat.
