3M Tegaderm CHG Dressing Chlorhexidine Gluconate IV Securement Dressing Simple. Launch Plan A small price per day to keep infection away Tegaderm CHG Clinical In-Service
Introducing 3M Tegaderm CHG Dressing Chlorhexidine Gluconate I.V. Securement Dressing Cleverly integrates the need for an antimicrobial agent, a stabilising device and a transparent film dressing in one complete package 2
Product Overview Tegaderm Transparent Film Serves as a barrier to organisms, including those most commonly associated with CR-BSIs Allows continuous site observation Conforms to body contours, flexes with patient movement and supports varied insertion practices Semi-permeable, breathable, allows good moisture vapor exchange CHG Gel Pad Unique composition of water, polymers and 2% chlorhexidine gluconate CHG is immediately and continuously available, does not require additional moisture The absorptive CHG gel pad protects even in the presence of blood, saline and exudate. Sterile Tape Strips Precut for anchoring hubs, lumens or tubing Versatile and easy to apply Includes preprinted labels for documenting dressing changes 3 Catheter Securement Gel pad conforms around catheter, helping provide catheter securement Unique adhesive properties of gel pad help stabilize the catheter, minimizing catheter movement Unique dressing design with deep notch helps reduce dressing lift caused by the weight of the catheter and tubing Soft Cloth Border Reinforced borders and notches help to reduce edge lift and create a better seal around the catheter Provides comfort and durability Intuitive design is clinician-friendly; ease-of-application minimizes opportunity for error
Features - Chlorhexidine Gel Pad Effective Proven to reduce skin flora under the dressing and prevent regrowth on healthy adult subjects for 7 days Broad spectrum, long-lasting, fast antimicrobial activity* against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and yeast* Gel pad adheres to and conforms around the catheter and allows visualisation Gel pad absorbs moderate amounts of fluid blood, saline and exudate blood does not inactivate CHG The gel pad absorb fluids slowly and retains 8 times its weight in fluid 4
Designs Available to Suit Most Lines 1657R Acute CVCs Vascaths Tunnelled cuffed vascaths With the 1657R there maybe challenges with Statlocks use or if the lines are bulky the below dressings are more appropriate 1658R Acute CVCs Vascaths PICCs Swan Ganz 1659R PICCs PICCs 5

7 Application
a) Dressing Selection Ensure the gel pad area is able to cover the insertion site 8
b) Site Preparation KEY TAKE HOME WORD DRY 9
DRY: How Can I tell? 10 Sniff.. or Sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star twice through!
c) Application Position so the gel pad covers the insertion site Don t stretch Use firm pressure - pressure sensitive 11
d) Dressing Change KEY TAKE HOME WORD PROD 12
Why PROD? Prodding the gel pad is one way of telling how saturated the dressing is 13 Lightly prod part of the gel pad with your finger If the depression from your finger remains, it is time to change the dressing
14 Other Indicators for Dressing Change
KEY TAKE HOME WORDS e) Removal Because of the gel pad, there is an additional challenge in removing Tegaderm CHG. It is very sticky and needs moisture to release SLOW & MOISTEN 15
SLOW & MOISTEN With What? Alcohol Wipes Sterile Saline Alcohol Swabsticks 16
