2 Introduction The Chaffey College Dental Assisting (DA) Program Entrance Demographic Survey was completed by 23 Dental Assisting students in The purpose of the survey was to obtain information required for Accreditation. Executive Summary Student Demographics (Please refer to Table 1.) 91 are United States citizens 83 are female 13 are 19 or younger, 48 are years old, 22 are years old, 9 are years old, and 9 are years old 61 are Hispanic, 22 are Caucasian, 9 are Asian, 9 are African American, 9 are of an unknown ethnicity Student Characteristics (Please refer to Table 3.) 5 of the Dental Assisting students had 3 dependents living with them, 22 had 2 dependent living with them, and 27 had 1 dependent living with them, 18 were single parents 45 are unemployed, 55 are employed part-time 52 are currently receiving Financial Aid, 13 have applied and are waiting for Financial Aid, 13 plan on applying for Financial Aid, and 22 di0d not apply for Financial Aid Educational Characteristics (Please refer to Table 4.) 100 of the DA students are in their first year of the DA program 83 of the DA students are enrolled full-time (12+ units) 63 of students reported a high school diploma/ged as their highest level of education Student Ratings of Agreement with Statements About the DA Program (Please refer to Table 5.) 100 of the DA students agreed with the following statement: In the classroom I am comfortable with most subject matter. *100 of the DA students agreed with the following statement: I feel welcomed into the health science program. (*Four students did not respond to this item.) DA Student Training (Please refer to Table 6.)* 96 of the DA students agreed they would enjoy working in a dental office before interning and graduating 91 of the DA students have interest in performing early intern type hours in a dental office for experience or transferable college credits 48 of the DA students are interested in General Dentistry, 26 are interested in Pediatric Dentistry, 9 are interested in Oral Surgery, 4 are interested in Orthodontics, and 13 are not sure at this time *Please refer to Table 7 for comments regarding other professional goals. 11 Introduction The Chaffey College Dental Assisting (DA) Program Entrance Demographic Survey was completed by 22 Dental Assisting students in The purpose of the survey was to obtain information required for Accreditation. PEOPLE WERE VERY INTRESTED SO I DID THE SAME AND GOT IN THE PROGRAM. WICH I DID GOOD BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE WHAT IM DOING AND GOING FOR. 5. PERSONAL INTEREST INTO OBTAINING MY DDS AND BECOMING A DENTAL SURGEON. THIS CLASS IS A STEPPING-STONE INTO THE FIELD TO HELP ME OBTAIN MORE HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE. 6. REALLY INTERESTED IN THE DENATL FILED 7. WANT TO GET A GOOD CAREER. 9
